using flash drive on iPad 3?

Can I load photos and documents on to an iPad 3 via the camera connection kit using a flash usb drive (OH has a third party kit, not Apple's)?
Applestore said to email any documents to myself, then save them. I have one very sensitive document that I'm not keen to email. Any suggestions?

I have read that you can only load photos via the connector, no other types of files? thanks

You can’t attach a flashdrive – maybe you can use iTunes to transfer it?

Why not encrypt the file before you email it ?
Personally, I think there's 100 times more chance of having your iPad stolen with the document on it than anyone malicious intercepting the file via email.

You can load pictures via a flash drive using the camera kit, but the must be named and in a folder that would match the same file structure as a camera would.

You can also load video his way, but not documents

Is Skydrive / Dropbox an option?

Of course, I am overlooking the obvious for the OP. I do this all the time myself.
