My cat is covered in scabs. The Vet gave her a steroid jab and an antibiotic jab and within 2 weeks she was clear. Now,5 weeks later, she's staring to scab up again. The Vet said her lymph nodes were enlarged and wants to do tissue scraping and blood tests. Now 1, I don't have insurance and 2, she gets in such a state I don't want to put her through that. She seems fine in herself, still goes out all day god knows where and is eating well. What would you do?
Sure it's not rodent ulcers? My cat is allergic to fleas, and whenever she gets them, she gets rodent ulcers too. Spot treatment gets rid of the fleas and so the allergy clears up pretty soon after. She's fine during all this, apart from the itching i.e. the scabs themselves don't bother her at all.

Flea and other allergies are best treated with medication, but sometimes when a cat gets into a licking habit, they just won't quit and the next thing you know they're bald in places.

When I had a cat go through this I hit on the idea of using a dog sweater. (I tried a baby's tee-shirt first, but sweaters are form fitting and the cat has a harder time getting around them. ) The longest it took to break the habit was two weeks. But the compulsion was broken and the fur grew back.

Mine has had an itchy scabby problem. Tried steroid injection no good.Vet thinks it's a food allergy. Changed to Hills prescription diet for itchy skin. You can get it on line.He is also on a very expensive medicine he hates. But he is better.

In which case, the PDSA and Blue Cross animal clinics can do reduced/zero cost pet vet inspection sessions plus there's Maggie's suggestion of the dog sweater above.
