Doggy dandruff
OMTT

Has anyone had any experience with what looks like dandruff in their dog's coat?

My chocolate lab has some white flakes but it doesn't seem to bother him, just the occasional scratch, but it doesn't that nice. Brushing seems to make it worse for a while then the level goes back to how it was.

Is it just because his winter coat is moulting or is it something more serious?

Like I said, it doesn't really bother him. I'm not sure if all dogs have this in a way & it only shows up because of his dark coat.

My dogs used to get this, it was due to the food, I changed their foods to a higher quality one and it cleared up. When my partner left me I had to buy a cheaper food and it came back, so I would say it was food related.

When the foods have a high grain content it can cause allergies and flaky skin.

The food that they didn't suffer with dandruff was Arden Grange, I swear by it, it also made my ex racing greyhounds arthritis better, he used to struggle to get up out of his bed, due to sore joints, after having that I never saw him struggle again.

I found the best thing to do is check ingredients lists for the foods then go away and research what it all means, it is worth it in the long run.

I agree try taking grain/gluten out of the diet and see if it clears.
