1977. I think the shine had worn off with regards to the Royals for a lot of people by 2002.

1977: Bunting on the house. Big street party. Bobbing for apples. Pony rides in the fields round the back of our house. A Dads v Lads football match for everyone in the neighbourhood. The free mug and coin.

2002: Erm. Dunno.

Oh...77 for me even though I was only 4. I remember a street party in our cul-de-sac and every child got a bouncy ball with Jubilee logo on it. I also remember lots of fairy cakes and games.

2002, there was a party on the community field but you had to pay to get in and other than some union jack flags, there didn't really seem anything 'Jubilee-ish' about it...just people drinking and shouting at their children.

I don't remember either at all. I was 5 going on 6 during the first one.

Oh right *that's* why Bri was on top of the Palace I was only thinking about that last week and couldn't remember why.

Basically, I don't remember either and will remember next weekend's even less.

I was 10 in 1977 and went to a street party on a street adjacent to mine. We had food and fizzy drink and played games and won prizes so it was memorable for that alone.

2002 completely passed me by without me even noticing any celebrations. I suspect it will be the same this weekend.

I remember getting the day off from infant school to go and see her walkabout in Hull in 1977, then my Mum took us to see her leave in Britannia from the docks.

Don't remember much about 2002 at all, although now it's been mentioned I do recall Bri up on the roof!

I didn't experience the 1977 one due to not being born, but the 2002 one didn't really make any impact on me at all - all I can recall is my grandparents being quite into it. I don't care about this next one either, I don't care how long she's been Queen for quite frankly. Makes no difference to my life whatsoever.

I obviously don't remember 1977, but 2002... I can't even remember it being that big a deal. I think I spent the day in Edinburgh with my parents doing some shopping. I remember feeling sad that there weren't any street parties or anything, but I asked recently and my parents told me that there weren't any in my home town in 1977 either. I don't think much of a fuss will be made this year, although our local Sainsbury's has Union Flags draped over the entrance, which looks weird!

I may be being stupid here, but what Jubilee? There was one in 1986, and there is one this year, or is this some sport thing?

2002 because I wasn't around in 1977, but I don't really remember anything other than watching Party at the Palace (we've still got the DVD of it).

Perhaps the monarchy was still recovering from their bad patch after Diana's death. So how will this Diamond jubilee measure up. It should be the biggest Jubilee of the three as it has only ever happened once before in the whole history of the monarchy. But I have a feeling 1977 will always be the most remembered one, especially for the over 40's.
My son born in the 1977 jubilee week, I remember being so tired with him, and his small sisters. the jubilee celebrations passed me by.

I was only a baby for the '77 one, so don't remember it at all - I do remember the 2002 one however, as I drove one of the gold buses in the service parade up The Mall and past the palace, getting a wave from The Queen and Prince Philip as we passed.

I am no big fan of royalty, but the atmosphere of the day was certainly special.

I wasn't born in 1977 but earlier today at work my colleague was saying she didn't remember there being as much fuss about 2002 as there has been this year - not much merchandise on sale etc. I just remember TV specials and promos and Brian May on the roof so maybe it wasn't that spectacular.

I remember the 1977 jubilee, can't even recall the 2002 one
I was only 5 but I remember going down to the local church hall, to collect my mug (which I still have
I also remember the street partys. It was celebrated more serious back then, people cared. There was a united feel to the event.

I was 5 in '77 yet I remember the Silver Jubilee better than the Golden Jubilee in 2002. I can't remember anything about it at all! I was pregnant with my first in 2002 and can't recall any fuss around that time.

1977. My mother dressed me in something nasty (I have photos somewhere). It was the first time I ever ate blancmange and I was very confused as to why the Queen didn't bother to show up at her own street party.

I didn't know they had one in 2002. Was the queen mother alive then?
