SERIOUS - Android - Virus/Trojan !!!
This morning all of a sudden I get some little chat bar pop up along the bottom of my Toshiba AT100 (Thrive) task bar asking for a 'sexy' chat.... Believe me - I don't use my tablet for anything like that !
SO - where did it come from ? Is this linked to my (fairly) new gmail address ? How do these services get hold of my email address or whatever ? I've got AVAST app running but that can't find any problems.... How do I report it / get rid of it, if it keeps happening ?? UPDATE.... this problem kept occuring - I switched OFF the Thrive - re-booted and THEN - it asked me for a PASSWORD ... I don't use a password ! I thought of all my passwords : gmail / Facebook ect ---- NO GO ! Kept refusing.... HAD TO DO A COMPLETE RESET of my Thrive - losing all my stuff/apps ect... Backup allowed me to re-install most of them - but if one of these has a trojan/virus that links to sites like these - how do I know which ? They are all from APPS STORE/SHOP and should be 100% legit..... Put's me off using Android - only had Thrive for a few weeks... Why is this happening ? - How do I stop it from re-occuring - don't want this too often I can tell you !!!!! |

Android Market (I refuse to call it Google Play) isn't filtered by Google like the App Store is by Apple, so if you download an app with very few reviews or downloads you run the risk of it being dodgy.
Also check the permissions of apps you install, its crazy as something as simple as a physics game like Angry Birds or whatever, have the permissions (that you would agree to by downloading) to essentially control your device. |

It sounds like an app may include 'airpush ads' where it will make random ads (mostly adult in nature) pop up. The only way to stop that is to remove the offending app so I would install an app called airpush detector and it will tell you what app it is.
