Help I plugged by Motorola Xoom in last night to charge, tried turning it on this morning and completely dead. I have plugged it into my PC to see if it will sync but no power whatsoever. Typical only a new old and did not take out insurance, can anyone advise what to do

Strangely had a similar problem with mine today. Did a soft reset on it (hold up volume button and press the power button). The tablet rebooted and everything is fine with all data intact.

Hope this helps.

The charger died on mine so obviously buying a new one from amazon fixed it.

What I want to know is where the hell is the official ICS update for the Xoom???

I'm still on honeycomb and don't want to install anything other than the official update.

My brother had this problem.

Plugged in my charger and started working. His charger now works also so seems it just needed a jump start.

Afraid to say you could be waiting a long time. Its been months wine the US firmware got ICS.

I waited a month and aa Motorola wouldn't confirm a date when ICS goes worldwide I gave up and got it my own way.

Motorola's customer service outside the US is a joke.

I think we can confidently give up on any idea of getting this update officially outside the US. The more I read, the more I realise that Motorola support outside the US is non-existent and what's more they couldn't care less.

No my knowledge, we were supposed to get the update Q2 but we have less than 1 month left and I haven't heard of a single update in the UK yet.

I'm like you, I am reluctant to consider the 'unofficial update route'. I am now using my Xoom for various work projects and I just don't want the slightest risk of bricking my machine.

That's one of the biggest problems with Android devices, a very good chance that you will never get updates. It's one of the main reasons I prefer iOS.

On the bright side more than likely that will no longer affect Motorola seeing as they are now owned by Google. Motorola will likely be the benchmark brand going forward when it comes to software updates and a pure Android interface.

Obviously, I don't know the actual source of this story.

You don't want much do you! LOL even if you put on an official firmware update there is always a chance of something going wrong...and even if something does go wrong then 99% of the time you can get it working again fine.

EMEA roll-out is projected to begin during Q2 2012 according to Motorola, and they currently list that build as being under development. Might be a little late, but I'm sure it will arrive.

It's been noted though, that the US and EMEA model numbers for the WiFi only models are the same, and that if you put the US Honeycomb build on the device the ICS update will show and install OTA. Given that the hardware is the same I can't see there being much difference (if any at all) between the US and EMEA build when it arrives.

It may be old hat to you, but for those of us who have not modified our UK xooms. It is an update from Motorola at least.

You hope. The fact of what you have written this means you haven't got ICS yet
