I have a 2006 CITREON C4 . When I start it the engine the warning light comes on and the following messgae is displayed 'Anti Pollution Faulty'. Apart from that it feels and drives ok.
Any idea what this means?

thanks in advance.

I was driving my dads C4 when I had that warning light come on, it went off about 2 days later and has never come back on. However it can lead to your engine becoming really sluggish and have very little power.

This is going to sound really sketchy but it has something to do with topping some fluid that if it runs out costs an absolute fortune, modern diesel cars are fitted with this serum type fluid that is squirted into the system each time you fill up. There is also a filter in the exhaust system I believe. Google holds a variety of answers on this! Easily fixed if caught in time... No doubt somebody with a more mechanical knowledge will be able to explain it better.

Petrol or diesel?

Anti Pollution Fault could mean any one of a hundred things.

You need to get the ECU fault codes read first of all.

If it's a diesel you could try driving it on the motorway with the revs up (4th gear would get the revs up) and see if it clears.

If its a diesel, I suspect you've been doing too many short trips and the Diesel Particulate Filter has clogged up. Give your car a good run (as said above) and that should burn it off....

I just remembered that these C4 anti pollution problems can sometimes be rectified by using Shell V Power petrol or equivalent and a run up the motorway at high engine revs.
