I started The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt yesterday and am absolutely loving it so far! So much so that i've gone and bought all her other books!

I have no idea still what the main story of the book is about, but I dont' even care because I'm enjoying it so much! She writes so well, but still in an accessible style if that makes any sense?

I'm currently about halfway through my latest audiobook. It's The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory and tells the tale of Mary Queen of Scots' house arrest in England under the care of the Earl of Shrewsbury and his wife Bess (of Hardwick).

I've just started reading the third Merrily Watkins book, A Crown of Lights by Phil Rickman.

I'm not spending much time reading at the moment so I expect that these two books will last me until the new year.

Well I've finished Maddaddam by Margaret Atwood and I was a bit disappointed to be honest- it never really seemed to get going. Back to Dominion by CJ Samson

Finished reading 'Facing Up' by Bear Grylls. As inspirational as it is, its not his best book imo and at times he is a little preachy. That said, its an amazing thing he achieved, Bear is a great, and funny, writer and its a brilliant human tale of love, loss, overcoming fears, recovery from the past/accidents. A decent read.

Now more than halfway through reading 'Casino Royale' by Ian Fleming - my final book of the year (book 12). I found it hard to get into the story - Fleming has a distinctive writing style - but once I got going it was easier to return to the book. The books are certainly darker, grittier and more adult than the films, but its a great read, if a little dated in terms of plot elements.

I just finished this and it's pretty good with some grim humour, funny characters and accurate descriptions of London and it's people. The writer pulls out some great one liners as well. Unfortunately I think she misuses the 1st and 3rd person narrative in places and the chapters are too short to give the book any real depth. A fun easy read though.

I've finished this and enjoyed it until around two thirds of the way through but the ending was just daft, IMO. Don't let my opinion sway you though, it's had some good reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, it just wasn't my thing.
