In the Blood by Steve Harrison - okay but there are too many characters and I am getting confused!
Correction - that was by Steve Robinson!! I really enjoyed it once I got into it

The next book I have just started is The Summer of '76 by Isabel Ashdown - I am really looking forward to getting into this as I am old enough to have experienced that really hot summer of '76

A Knight in Shining Armour - Jude Deveraux
Yes, I know it is a lot of old tosh, and the author's name doesn't feature a lot on this forum, but I'd thought I'd read this as the theme was time travel, I'd try it.
Funny, charming and enjoyable

Just started The Hydrogen Sonata by Iain M Banks.

I adored all his previous Culture novels and am hoping this one lives up to expectations as it's his last one.

Finished Raymond Chandler's Big Sleep. The writing style that launched a thousand imitations. Deserves its reputation but not a brilliant story.

Finished Holly Forrest's Confessions of a Showbiz Reporter. Quick light read. Even thouggh written under a pseudonym the stories of celebrity are fairly tame. Impressionable youngsters who think journalism is all about glamour and parties would be advised to read a few chapters.

Picked up Pete Townshend's autobiography 'Who I Am' for a £1 (new hardback, cost £20 when published) in a charity shop,

I've just leafed through so far and am starting on it shortly. It was recommended to me by my brother who said it was a harrowing, but good, read.

Well I've finished Maddaddam by Margaret Atwood and I was a bit disappointed to be honest- it never really seemed to get going.
Same thoughts here! Not sure why, just didn't really grab me

Now reading The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. It's really good but hard to read because of the subject matter. Am about two thirds through.

Let us know what you think - I've just read that.

I'm still on The Casual vacancy - enjoying it but it seems to be taking forever though that may be because I'm flitting onto other things too, due to kindles's sample service

It was OK.
I didn't like Kate all that much, as it seemed to me she was running away from her problems. Matt seemed very understanding up until she went. I did nearly give up on the story, because of Kate's negativity, as her Dad had pointed out to her, in the pub, which incidentally, I found quite moving.
The ending, I felt was a bit rushed, even though, it was a HEA.

Finished Jon McGregor's This Isn't The Sort Of Thing That Happens To Someone Like You. Don't normally enjoy short story collections, but McGregor is one of our very best writers and there's some excellent stories here and a few "experimental" pieces.

A Faint Cold Fear - Karin Slaughter. I've read Broken and Fractured, before I knew they were part of a series, and I'm reading through all of them now in order.

You Rocked, We Rolled (Mott Road Crew Life) by Phil John. It mentions my late father several times, and is an interesting read.

Tony Blair: A Journey.

I was given this book as a present about three years ago & I've only just started reading it.

It's really good up to the point I,m at (page 101).
