I'm part way through a new audiobook, The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, narrated by John Chancer. It's a book I've read before back in the dim and distant past. I'd forgotten how angry Steinbeck is. Brilliant descriptive writing but, although I don't remember much about the storyline, I'm sure that the Joads aren't going to live happily ever after. John Chancer is doing a good job with the narration.
I'm about to start The Confusion of Karen Carpenter by Jonathan Harvey. I'm slightly put off by the fact that he writes for Coronation Street! It sounds quite good though and is shorter than the Goldfinch and, hopefully, less depressing than Grapes of Wrath.
