The White Princess by Philippa Gregory. Very good so far, with PG's usual impeccable attention to detail, whilst keeping the reader gripped. Am then looking forward to Val McDermid's Cross & Burn, the latest Carol Jordan/Tony Hill thriller.

Just started The Devil's Music by Jane Rusbridge, I think I'm going to enjoy this more than the last book I read.

Diary of a Paramedic: Life & Death on the Streets - Stuart Gray.
Comes from a blog he wrote, which I used to read a lot. Interesting stuff. |

James Hunt: The Biography by: Gerald Donaldson.
Very interesting read for someone like me who loves cars and was fascinated by Hunt as a kid. |

It's all news to me - Jeremy Vine
I bought this in Poundland, and have only just got round to reading it. Vine writes with self deprecating wit and humour and I found myself liking it very much. Very revealing views on the BBC, Newsnight, Radio 2 etc. Interesting too. |

The Summer Son by Craig Lancaster. He's the author of 600 Hours of Edward and Edward Adrift. Quote:
When Mitch Quillen’s life begins to unravel, he fears there is no escape. His marriage and his career are both failing, and his relationship with his father has been a disaster for decades. Approaching forty, Mitch doesn’t want to become a middle-aged statistic. When his estranged father, Jim, suddenly calls, Mitch’s wife urges him to respond.
Mitch isn't such an engaging character as Edward, but it's a good read so far.

Accordion Crimes by Annie Proulx - it traces a Sicilian accordion from its origins in Sicily in the 19th century over to the States and the stories of the people who own it and surround it over the years. It's a very good story - a story of immigrants and their struggles.
I'm very fond of Annie Proulx's books - The Shipping News and Close Range (part of which was the short story which was adapted for the screen in the film Brokeback Mountain.) One book about her building her own house I found a bit boring. |

I finished The Never List the other day. One of the most bizarre books I have ever read.
Now re-reading Wuthering Heights for the 7th time. |

When It's a Jar by Tom Holt.
I'm loving it so far, but that's not surprising as he's one of my favourite authors.

Crime and Punishment - Dostoevsky. Have meant to read this for years. The Vintage Classics translation is very readable; the language used seems more like a contemporary novel rather than a 19th C one.
