Quite Ugly One Morning by Christopher Brookmyre. Really enjoying it so far, about 1/3 of the way in. I like his style and have laughed out loud a few times! I'll try another of his if continue to like the book as much as I do now.

I'm presently reading Labyrinth, by Kate Mosse, for the 2nd time. Next is Sepulchre, then Citadel - and my long-awaited copy of The Intruders by Michael Marshall.

Probably my favourite author. I'm in the final throws of The Idiot at the moment. Eeking it out as I don't want it to end.

I agree, he's very readable though I do struggle with the Russian names. I have to make a crib sheet to keep them all straight in my head.

After hearing about the sad death of Sue Townsend last week I decided to re-read the Adrian Mole series of books again, which I loved the first time around. Still great on the second reading .

What are you reading at the moment and is it any good?

Pretty sure there is a thread on this very thing on the Books board

Anyway, I am currently reading The Bourne Identity as I have been meaning to get to it for ages.

The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Stephen Donaldson. I've read it before, but no spoilers please as I'm only half way through and it was a while ago.

Fool's Errand by Robin Hobb. She is a brilliant writer!

I too was saddened to hear about Sue Townsend... I loved all the Adrian Mole books.

I've read everything of hers - I agree, she is, although I thought a couple of her Megan Lindholms were a bit of an easy read, compared to the Live Ships and Farseers.

I've just finished reading Pet Sematary by Stephen King.

I'll be reading his first novel, Carrie, next.

The man is a genius. That's all I can say.

Do you know there is a new one coming out later this year which starts a new Fitz trilogy? Though I need to get a move on, I've got 6 books to read yet to catch up!

Pet Sematary is seriously dark! There are times when King really goes for it, and that's one of them...

My favourite of his is IT. Never has a book sent such chills... when you have to look up and around the room just to make sure nothing is there, or at the window looking in... King at his very best.

No, I didn't know that! She hasn't that long since finished her Rain Wilds one, has she? Well, a couple of years ago, but that isn't too long, really. Long may she continue writing about Fitz. Love him.

Thanks for the heads up.

Loved Steven King in the early days but like a lot of authors I think that after several books you see the formula, they can become a bit samey and you go off them ....... John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, Jodie Picoult.

Having said that I have just read The Storyteller byJodie Picoult published in 2013 and thought it was a great read.

I recently read Gone Girl, which is coming out as a film later this year. Not the kind of book I would normally pick up but I was recommended it and it didn't disappoint! Some nice twists in there and a couple of characters King himself would be pleased with. In fact I think he's stated he's a fan himself.

The film will have a slightly different ending, apparently, which is a blessing...
