I would definitely recommend it, it's very amusing.

I just fi ished that. Thought the narrator was going to be too annoying at first but thoroughly enjoyed it in the end. Kept hearing Don as Sheldon from Big bang theory and Gene as Gene Hunt though.

I've just started The Hunger Games trilogy. I've had the set for a while, and watched the first film so far, which was ace. Really enjoying the first book!

"Usher's Passing" by Robert McCammon. One of very few horror stories which merit the word "epic". A present-day member of the Usher family is trying to research his ancestors, some of whom featured in Poe's story, much to their annoyance. What are they hiding?
Mercifully, it would be prohibitively expensive to film as written so Hollywood has never got its withered hands on it.

Just finished Joyland by Stephen King. I really liked it. It read like a classic King.

Moved on to one of the new Sherlock Holmes ones. It's written as if he investigated Jack the Ripper. So far its OK.

Also started the auto-biography Dirty Daddy by Bob Saget. Not into it yet but he's pretty funny.

Me too, I find myself in a mild panic if I think about it too much as I feel I am missing out on good books if I don't hurry up :-P. I am weird!

I've just finished Running Scared by Lisa Jackson, and although I finished it, it's a thinly disguised romance, rather than a thriller. Not one I'd recommend.

Have you read Swansong by the same author? It was recommended by someone on here and it was pretty epic too.

About to start reading Tethered Twins by Mike Essex. The blurb on Amazon intrigued me so I thought I would give it a go even though dystopian novels aren't usually my thing.

I'm about halfway through "The Alphabet Sisters" by Monica McInerney...it's a novel about three sisters whose parents own a motel in the Clare Valley, Australia. Their grandmother is trying to reunite them after a family row, over one of the sister's boyfriends who falls in love with another sister and marries her instead. I can wholeheartedly recommend it, funny, moving and full of eccentric characters, especially the matriarch, 80 year old Lola Quinlan, its very well written and makes for a hugely enjoyable read, her other books are terrific as well! I've just bought the sequel to the book, "Lola's secret" which I can't wait to read!!

I have, but "Usher's Passing" is far better. Some of his early books are a bit ropey (e.g. "Baal") but his later work is excellent: "Boy's Life", "Going South" etc.

Over my hols I read The Storyteller, Jodi Picoult and a a real contrast, Hidden Treasures, Fern Britton. Both recommended for different reasons. Also The Ice cream girls, which was a bit disappointing

Just starting The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith.

I felt a bit conned as I didn't know when I bought it that it was really JK Rowling and I don't like Harry Potter, but it's obviously totally different so I hope it's good and hasn't just got good reviews because of who the author is.

Beautiful Day - Kate Anthony
This was a great read. Story about a single mother of three, who begins work at a care home for people with learning difficulties and is placed in charge of a mountain of a man who has lost his mother and is out of touch with everything. It becomes an uphill struggle to communicate with him, but I was rooting for Rachel all the way.
Along with that, Rachel has to worry about her ex husband and his girlfriend seeing their children each weekend, and how the eldest child is torn between each party.
Very sorry when I finished this.
