I loved that book - I enjoyed it much more than any of his Thorne novels. I wonder if I'm in a minority then?

I liked the early ones in the series too. Unfortunately the series does start to go downhill later on, but see what you think when you get to those.
I'm in the middle of 'The Reversal' by Michael Connelly. It's a legal procedural but featuring Harry Bosch as the prosecution team's investigator. I'm really enjoying it actually - a bit different from the other Bosch novels I've read.
