I spoke too soon about Lamentation!
After racing through most of It, I was so disappointed with the ending - I found it ended up dragging it's way to a conclusion that was far fetched at best
Now trying The Storyteller - the first Jodi Picoult book I've read.

Reading; Sour, my story by Tracey Miller. It's a biography about a young girl who joins one of Brixtons notorious gangs during the 90's and how she managed to escape this life.

The problem for me was that there weren't any really sympathetic characters so you follow the story more out of morbid curiosity than concern for any of them.”

I loved that book - I enjoyed it much more than any of his Thorne novels. I wonder if I'm in a minority then?

I liked the early ones in the series too. Unfortunately the series does start to go downhill later on, but see what you think when you get to those.

I'm in the middle of 'The Reversal' by Michael Connelly. It's a legal procedural but featuring Harry Bosch as the prosecution team's investigator. I'm really enjoying it actually - a bit different from the other Bosch novels I've read.

Might re-read the Palliser novels for Christmas or maybe Armadale by Wilkie Collins. Something comforting.

Blood's A Rover by James Ellroy. The only crime writer who can beat him is David Peace, and he learned most of his tricks from Ellroy in the first place.

I was just about to buy that today as it's been on my Amazon wishlist for a while and I noticed it was reduced to £3.59, then about half an hour later it had gone up by £2!n

Anyway I am reading The Photographer's Wife by Nick Alexander, I have only read a couple of chapters and I am loving it!

I take it you didn't buy it then? I just finished it this morning. I really enjoyed it at the start but towards the end I felt she could have done so much more. She focused on one thing but I wanted to find out about something else... And she left it without really exploring it.

Am now going to read Anne Tyler - The Amateur Marriage

Saint of the Shadow Bible - Ian Rankin.

Reluctantly gave up on The Liar by Stephen Fry, became evident quite early on that it wasn't for me and my perseverance gave out just after half way.

No, I'll wait until it comes down in price again! Off topic but does anyone know how they decide which books to reduce on Amazon? Sometimes books can literally just be reduced by 1p, other times things on my wishlist are reduced by up to 36% and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
