Nicci French's Blue Monday which I am loving. I had read one of their previous titles and hated it, but picked this up from the library and I'm now hooked.
I've read all of Nicci French's books including the Frieda Klein series. I love her books as they keep me hooked/guessing

I'm listening to Brixton Beach by Roma Tearne, narrated by Charlotte Strevens.
The book opens with the London bombings of 2005, but then moves back in time to Sri Lanka in the 1970s, where there is increasing tension between Tamils and Sinhalese. Alice is 9 years old. Her Tamil father and Sinhalese mother plan to move to the UK to escape the trouble brewing in their country.

I'm still on Stolen Child which I am enjoying

As I seem to have similar tastes to Smithy I also looked up Peter James and found a whole series (11 so far) of detective books,

I was away over the weekend and got the first one - Dead Simple on ibook (also on kindle) for 99 cent. I'm really enjoying it too so now i'm thrilled to have a new series but also multi reading it with stolen child!

Hello everyone, just found this interesting site and looking forward to some good reads. I am never without a book to read and it's great to have them recommended. I have recently read 'The Maze Runner' series and it's fantastic, can recommend it to anyone. Also 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' series is well worth reading.

At present I am reading 'The Belle Fields' by Lora Adams. My tastes are very eclectic, I can read anything that is well written and this one is a historical romance. I discovered it whilst looking through that section on Amazon and it's unusual cover drew my attention. Usually a bemused maiden graces the cover in this genre but this one has a pretty rural scene so I was intrigued. The reviews were good and so I took the plunge and bought it for a couple of pounds. It's very gripping once you get into it, I found I couldn't put it down. Usually I can predict what's going to happen but this book has kept me guessing throughout. I can highly recommend. Happy reading

Finished Far from the Madding Crowd. It was engaging but a bit romantic for my sensibilities though I did feel what they call 'Hardy Country' for the first time. Diverting but not extraordinary,

Next is Dead Souls - Gogol. Post Lovecraft it was recommended.

Following the recent woeful TV adaptation of 'Poldark'
I am currently re-reading the 12 books. On book three
at the moment and its still good stuff, if you like a good
story with clearly defined heroes and villains!

I don't recommend the above (see review in the 215 in 2015 thread)
I need to choose my books more carefully!

I have started The Headmaster's Wife by T.C. Greens - I hope this is better than my last book but if it isn't at least it's quite short!

Found another book by Elly Griffiths and although it's not part of the Ruth Galloway series I have bought it and started it this morning. It's called The Zig Zag Girl.
I don't know if you know but Elly Griffiths is her pen name (grandmother's name I was told)- she has written other books under Domenica de Rosa, her real name.

Thanks for posting - I'm enjoying the Elly Griffiths books at the moment so I'll check out her Domenica de Rosa ones too.

I'm in the middle of Brighton Rock by Graham Greene at the moment, but I have to say I'm finding it quite disappointing. The characters are so one-dimensional and don't ring true to me at all. I'm not sure if I'll even finish it.

Let me know what you think of the Peter James books! I've only read Dead Like You, but enjoyed it so much I'm planning to start from the beginning of the series and read them all at some point.

I'm reading a bit of chick-lit at the moment - Vivien's Heavenly Ice Cream Shop (Abby Clements). Not impressed with the writing, so disappointing. Over halfway through now though, so shall finish it anyway.
