I still re-read them. Currently on The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes as I like how the short stories are easily accessible.

I've just finished reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which was fab, and gave me a laugh through some bad times - which was much needed.

Now I'm reading Gullivers Travels by Jonathon Swift, finding it a bit hard going tbh.”

One of my reading pleasures is sitting in a big comfy chair in front of the fire on a cold winter's night reading Sherlock Holmes (with a glass of single malt).

just finished china mieville's "the scar"

been a fan of sci-fi/fantasy books for a long time and it does fascinate me where these guys get some of their ideas from in the first place for books set in these fictional worlds

wasn't as much of a connection from the first book in the series as i expected from a story perspective but probably enjoyed it alot more than i did the first book

Kipling done, oh best beloved.

About to start Hemingway - men without women as Dorothy Parker raved about it.

I wouldn't mind reading that.

Am reading 'The Mist in the Mirror' by Susan Hill. I love a good olde-worldy ghost story once the nights draw in! Really liked 'The Woman in Black' by her years ago as well.

Oh yes! Another writer for those long winter nights. But you won't get much sleep after reading his stories

Turning Angel - Greg Iles
Second in the Penn Cage series
Lawyer turned writer in Natchez Mississippi, tries to help a lifelong friend accused of raping and murdering a high school student. There's gang warfare and drugs involved. I enjoyed it but there were quite harrowing parts towards the end.

Hurting Distance - Sophie Hannah - the second in the Culver Valley series. A man goes missing and the police don't take his mistress seriously about it so she tells a shocking story to convince them to look for him. 25% in and I am really enjoying it. I particularly like the relationships between the detectives.
