Not long since finished The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher, now reading Poppet by Mo Hader, a bit out of context because I read Wolf her latest one a few weeks back.

The French House by Nick Alexander, the sequel to The Case of the Missing Boyfriend. I'm enjoying this series.

I try again every couple of years but it's never clicked with me, I just don't get it. The last time I tried I managed about 1/3 of it before completely losing interest, I got to the stage of being unable to read more than a couple of pages in one sitting.
To be honest I think I've developed a sort of mental block, I approach it knowing full well I've never managed to finish it and resigned to doing the same again. I've recently discovered Belinda Bauer and am working my way through her books. Just finished 'Rubbernecker' which was brilliant, and I'm now in the middle of 'Darkside'. Good quality crime fiction with plenty of focus on character and character interaction (which I like). |

I'm reading Hunger by Michael Grant, the 2nd in the Gone series- have to say it's not gripping me. Not sure I'll bother with the rest.

Same here - lots of my friends love 'Catch 22' but it did absolutely nothing for me. I gave up after about 1/3 too. I think it's just one of those 'love it or hate it' books.

Last Chance Saloon - Marian Keyes
This was a bit slow to start with bit it soon gathered up speed and was very enjoyable. Haven't read Marian Keyes for ages. |

I just started Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. I wonder whether it will live up to the hype.

I'm listening to Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, narrated by Juanita McMahon.
Sue Trinder is an orphan and has grown up in a family of petty thieves in Victorian London. She becomes involved in a plot to relieve a wealthy heiress of her fortune. Really good so far. I'm reading Dead Man's Grip by Peter James. (Roy Grace 7). A fatal road traffic accident has unexpected consequences for the survivors. Also very good but there is one character who I would very much like to ditch from this series. |

Just started At my Mother's Knee....and other Low Joints by Paul O'Grady - the first part of his autobiography - he was brought up near to my neck of the woods so I thought it might be interesting - also I have a slight quest to read more (auto)biographies this year.

I've not read the latest one yet. Just finished The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. Absolutely loved it. Reminded me of the Sally Lockhart books as it's set in Victorian England and has a bit of mystery around it. |

Can I join in?!
I've just discovered a new (to me) crime writer - LJ Ross, I just finished her second in the DCI Ryan series - Sycamore Gap and bought the 3rd called Heavenfield this morning ready for starting tonight. |

How do we all feel about giving up on a book?
I ask because after several hours of excruciating and confusing reading my reader tells me I'm an impressive 8% through this weighty tome. I'm not sure I can contemplate the other 92%! Now they go in the charity bag if they dont grab my attention and I never think twice , |

Skagboys by Irvine Welsh. Finding it a bit of a drag but sometimes my enjoyment of a book depends on my mood.

If it's not for my book club, where I generally do my best to finish it, I just stop reading and get rid of them usually via BookMooch.
