I loved 'Black Rabbit Hall' - like you said, I loved the mix of family drama and mystery - it kept my attention throughout. I'm looking forward to Eve Chase's next book, I believe BRH was her debut book.

I've just finished reading 'The Turning Point' by Freya North - I wanted a break from crime fiction, so thought I would give this one a go. It's a romance about a long distance relationship. It was an enjoyable, easy read. I liked the characters, though I did guess what the twist would be. All the same, I thought the characters were well written and realistic. I'd give it a solid 7/10.
Cried my eyes out at The Turning Point - I didn't guess what the turning point was

Just started The Loving Husband by Christobel Kent, from the Richard and Judy Book Club, it hasn't got very good reviews but my book group has chosen it. About 10% in and I can already see why it has bad reviews. I'd better put it in spoilers but....

"London for Immigrant suckers"

An interesting story, it flows nicely. This review describes it the best

I'm on the library waiting list for 'The Turning Point' audio version, but I think I'm a long way down the list. Glad to hear it's worth waiting for!

'Hidden' is OK so far - nothing special, but interesting enough for me to stick with it.

100-odd pages in clm2071, it's definitely got a different vibe to the previous 3 instalments.
More of a folky/supernatural feel to it.

Yes I agree, its certainty different. We'll compare once youve finished (difficult posting without giving away my views!)

Was that written by the same author?
The Wicker Man & the Dynasty soap opera, meets Die Hard all on the Kintyre Peninsula
As the book went on, the more bizarre & unbelievable things got.
Book 5 in the series - "Well of the Winds" is out April 2017, I hope it's more of a return to the style of the first 3.

Weird wasnt it?

Like a strange sort of fantasy gothic horror hybrid.

I still thought it was very readable but I was glad to get to the end. Hope it was just a temporary blip.

So far in the series ive found it been good book (whisky), less good book (witness), best book (suits), worst book (rat)

Yeah, I was wanting it to end, quickly too.
Must be hard for an author to maintain high standard levels, especially after an impressive debut novel though.
I'd also agree with you on your book 'ratings'.

The Snow Child - Eowyn Ivey
I loved this book. Best Christmas read, so far
Based in 1920's Alaska, this is part fairy tale and part fantasy.
A must read

Would you recommend the series (Vampire Chronicles?) on the whole?

Just finished reading "Holy Island - A DCI Ryan Mystery" by LJ Ross. I am sure that I must have read a worse book but I can't actually remember when.

Just started "Ghostwritten" by David Mitchell.
