I'm reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.. about a quarter of the way through the book at the moment. I was a bit confused with all the characters and the different generations (each chapter jumps in time, from the present to the past and back again) but I'm really into it now.

Fantastic novels, all three of them, highly recommended.

Currently nearing the end of Lionel Asbo - Martin Amis.

I'm not loving it but it's reasonably entertaining. I am getting somewhat annoyed by the innate snobbery of the constant sneery/smirky asides about speech as pronounced by 'common' people,

It's a story that could be very amusing and has a lot of scope but it's become a bit repetitive now. Maybe it'll have a big shock ending....... I'll know by this time tomorrow

Just finished The Love Of My Life by Louise Douglas. It's a beautifully written and absorbing story about love, loss and hope. There's real complexity and depth to this book (even though it's not very long). I recommend it - especially if you like Jojo Moyes.

Have reserved a copy of The Twelve at my library although it's been so long since I read The Passage that I've forgotten a lot of the plot and who most the characters are! I hope the author does a bit of a summary at the start.

Going to read The Gone-Away World by Nick Harkaway next.

The Fifth Woman by Henning Mankell, (Wallander series) just started it and seems promising.

I've finished Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. I was expecting it to be a bit rubbish, but actually found it to be a really good read. I shall look forward to reading the next two books in the series.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been "bumping in to" Virginia Woolf in various books, tv programmes, magazines and the film The Hours. I've decided to read one of her novels. I've chosen Mrs Dalloway and am hoping that it won't be too heavy a read. Quite enjoyable so far, very descriptive, almost poetic.

Currently reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins after watching- and enjoying- the film. Originally I thought I would dislike it because it seemed to be written for the teenage market but o far it's a really original and interesting read which I'm finding quite addictive. Good to see a strong female lead in the form of Katniss and I'm glad that just because it's aimed at the teen market it doesn't shy away from disturbing themes....

Going to start The Time Travellers Wife and The Lovely Bones after.

I have read that and really enjoyed it, I am now reading....
