I've finished Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, the first book that I've read by this author. I thought that it was beautifully written, very descriptive with a poetic feel to it. I enjoyed the stream of consciousness style of writing and thought that the changes of perspective from character to character were very well handled. All in all though it was a fairly depressing read, which I was kind of expecting. I'll probably give To The Lighthouse a read at some stage.
I'm well over half way through listening to The Twelve by Justin Cronin, read by Scott Brick. Scott Brick's narration is excellent and really contributes to my enjoyment of the book. The story itself is, so far, quite similarly set out to the previous book, The Passage. We move backwards and forwards in time, meet some new characters and catch up with some of the old ones.
I don't think it would be much of a spoiler to say that life is grim and most characters don't seem to be heading towards a long, happy, and carefree life!
I could do with some cheering up now so I'm going to reread Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K. Jerome.
