Becoming Sister Wives - Kody Brown (and wives).
I don't know if they're on TV in the UK but they're a polygamist family, husband, 4 wives and 17+ children who have a reality show on TV over here.

In the Tall Grass by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill
I bought a Joe Hill book the other day, Heart Shaped Box. I'd never heard of him before but the story sounded interesting. I never realised he was Stephen King's son!

Finished A Pair Of Blue Eyes by Thomas Hardy. The second half was much better than the first. A bit romantic for my taste but some good scenes of suspense. I didn't get as strong a sense of Hardy-country as I was expecting and I mised the humour you'd get in a Dickens. Still, at least the illustrations were first rate.

Now onto The Inheritors by William Golding. I love holiday reading!

I listened to A Pair of Blue Eyes on 4extra last week. I enjoyed it but thought it was rather more lightweight than other Hardy novels.

I couldn't say. This was my first stab at Hardy. I wanted one which hadn't already seeped into general consciousness. Tests, Jude etc I'm sure would have more depth but I'm so familiar with the narrative already.

I might give it a go, Im sure the radio version was abridged so possibly more to it than the impression I got. Thanks

Heart Shaped Box is one of my favourite books, enjoy! You probably would have realised if you have read any King once you started HSB as the apple definitely didnt fall far from the tree on the literary front.

I remember thinking he was a lot like Stephen King when I first read it, it wasnt until later I found out how much like SK he was!

I'm about 200 pages into Citadel by Kate Mosse, but so far I'm finding it pretty slow going. Don't know whether to carry on with it or not?

Just finished "Redaction: Extinction Level Event" by Linda Andrews. Got this on my kindle for 77p and it was really good especially for the price! It was not anything like as good as books such as "The Passage" and "The Stand" but it kept my attention and I've just downloaded the sequel which I will read soon. Its called a "post apocalyptic" book but actually the apocalypse is happening during the course of this book so nothing post about it yet

Just started Angel Killer by Andrew Mayne. Interesting premise: Ex magician turned FBI agent who has been given a strange case to help solve based on her experience with sleight of hand etc. Only a couple of chapters in but think its going to be a good one. Another kindle bargain at 77p!

Working through an almost complete set of the 'Maigret' books by Georges Simenon, and a couple of Magnus MIlls that I have not yet read!
The Maigrets, considering the first was published in 1937 or thereabouts, are surprisingly modern in their style and content.
And Magnus Mills is a cult genius.Sort of Kafka but with laughs!

I’ve just started reading ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ by Stieg Larsson (borrowing it from a book worm friend ) I’ve also got a book of 'James Bond' short stories on the go as well as a non-fiction book on hunting, tracking and survival. I’ve also got a small stack of magazines to get through/finish – Men’s Fitness, Q (music magazine), GQ and Empire (film magazine).

Need to find some time to plough through that lot.

Finished The Inheritors. Absolutely loved it. Intensely rich and descriptive, what a mind Golding must have had to even come up with half the ideas regarding Neanderthal communication. A big thank you to whoever it was on here who recommended it and I thoroughly concur.

Now onto V.S. Naipaul's A Bend In The River.

Behind the Black Door by Sarah Brown. I was interested in finding out what it's like being a PM's wife behind the door of 10 Downing St. Only just started, so far, so good.

Children's Children by Maisie Mosco. One of a series of books about a Jewish family in Manchester. About the 10th time I have read it!

I think that was my recommendation, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. A really good read and very different from Lord of the Flies.
