Enjoying it so far very much aimed at a younger audience than LOTR but still a good read.

At the moment I'm reading In a Glass Darkly by Sheridan Le Fanu. It's a collection of supernatural and mystery short stories and purports to be the medical case notes of a German physician, Dr. Hesselius. Le Fanu was Irish, and was apparently an influence on Bram Stoker, Henry James and M. R. James. Having read two of the stories so far, I can indeed see that. You can tell that Hesselius influenced the character of Van Helsing in Dracula for one thing. The first story was about a man who was haunted by a monkey ; and the one I've just finished is about a ship's captain who's haunted by a sailor he'd ordered to be flogged.

Finished Keri Karin last night by Kat Ward. Her first book Keri and this one I was totally captivated by both books. So well written and her descriptions she was able to take you there.
I'm looking forward to reading Keri Karin part two which the author is working on at present. |

Just finished 'The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas' last night, which was the worst possible
time, as I coulldn't get to sleep, thinking about it. Powerful, sad, atmospheric and utterly heartbreaking. |

I read that for the first time about a month ago - enjoyed it a lot.

Have just finished Naomi,s Room by Jonathan Aycliffe,i waited for ages to get it in ebook form,it was so scary I wouldnt go to the toilet in the night, though it,s quite disturbing as well because it,s a bit brutal in places.Probably one of the scariest I have ever read.
(party animal that I am, although I did stop briefly at midnight to watch the fireworks on telly!) Finished it at about 1am and was gripped the whole way through.I don't really find books scary, but this one was a close contender! And extremely dark towards the end especially, yowzers! Well worth a read though, and was only 99p so thanks for the recommendation ![]() Now reading The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner. Hooked so far.

Reading two. One on my kindle - The Expats by Chris Pavone. Enjoying this one about Kate who lives in Luxembourg with her husband and does the whole "expat wives coffee morning" rounds but its becoming apparent that her old job may come back to haunt her...
In print Birthdays for the Dead - Stuart Mcbride. A standalone from him, but the usual gritty tale of killers and their pursuers. Quite liking it as I felt his Logan series had taken a downturn recently but this standalone is back to his great standards. |

Don of the Dead - Casey Daniels. It's the first in the Pepper Martin series about an ex socialite who suddenly can see dead people. In this one a 30 year dead mobster boss enlists her help in finding out who murdered him.
