Will do. It'll likely be a while before I read it - I'm a very slow reader (especially when Big Brother is on...for shame) and have Q to finish first & 2 others I've borrowed. But it'll be next on the To Read list.

I enjoyed the first too but not the last one so much

Started ' The Return' - Victoria Hislop on the way home yesterday and must finishe the last 20 pages of 'Death Comes to Pemberely' which I left before I went on hols.

'Death Comes to Pemberley' was good but a bit of a disappointment amid all the hype.”

The Return by Victoria Hislop is sitting on my bookcase at the moment, thought The Island by her was good so might have to read this one next.
I'm reading Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan right now and struggling to get into it a bit but can't give up on it either as I want to know what happens in Burma

Just had to say thank you, I read the first book and loved it but had no idea it was a series. Will have to look out for the second one now

There are a lot of books to go! I thought that Midwinter of the Spirit was good, I'll read the third at some point. I have a couple of the later ones to read, they were Kindle Daily deals.

I've just started Notes from an Exhibition by Patrick Gale.
"When troubled artist Rachel Kelly dies she leaves behind an extraordinary body of work – but for her family there is a legacy of secrets and painful revelations."

I decided that I'd like to try another of this author's books after reading A Perfectly Good Man. It's set in Cornwall and fits in with my current holiday reading theme.

Just finished Dark Eden by Chris Becket.

Really good read. Sci-fi but suspect even non-sci-fi people would enjoy it. Recommended.

That's waiting to be read on my Kindle. I don't often read sci-fi but read the sample chapter and thought thought that it looked good.

Ed McBain '87th Precinct' novels. I've read eleven of them so far. They do vary in quality somewhat, but I've found most of them to be compulsive reading, and I don't want to read anything else at the present time.

I went through a face of reading those in the late 1980s - they're so addictive and it's nice when you have so many books with the same characters so you get to know them

Bad Games - Jeff Menapace

Loving it. If you're in to juicy psychological thrillers I highly recommend it. It written so well Im imagining it all happening infront of me. A chilling read and I can't wait to read the follow up book.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I'm not reading them in their published sequence. I started off with a seven novel omnibus, and I'm requesting them a few at a time from the library. I doubt if I'll be able to access all of the books in the series.

I just finished reading We Need to Talk About Kevin. I really enjoyed this book despite the subject matter. I haven't seen the film yet, but will give it a watch now that I have read the book

Am totally engrossed in 'Rose Petal Beach' by Dorothy Koomsoon. It is unputdownable. Highly recommend it.

I gave up on 'The Return' as it had been my 2nd attempt at reading it.

The modern part was fine, but the historical parts - which I usually enjoy and enjoyed very much in 'The Island' and 'The Thread' - read more like a history book to me, as if the author was just putting the facts down on a paper. I didn't see any effort to craft the story around the facts. I hate giving up on books so I always give them a 2nd go, then ditch them. There are far too many good books out there to read, to stick with one you aren't enjoying

It's her newest book. I never read any of Dorothy Koomson's books, but I watched the ITV adaptation of 'Ice Cream Girls' and loved it, bought this and 'Marshmallows for Breakfast' in a charity shop. Will definitely look into her other books.

I love books that keep me wanting to read 'just another page' when I want to go to sleep or need to go out, or books that I'm thinking about when I'm not reading them in anticipation of being able to. This is definitely one of those books, for me, anyway.
