HD Films onto New iPad

I'm a new iPad user and d/l a film from iTunes. I downloaded the Standard Definition version as the HD version was rental only. Although I haven't watched the film yet I did look at about 5 mins worth last night and thought the picture quality was excellent.

Now, I don't have any HD products in my house (I still have an old non-flatscreen SD tv), so, am wondering whether HD films on the iPad are really worth the extra price and trebling of memory space needed?

Maybe I need to rent a film in HD and have a look, but as I said, the SD version was very good quality.

Only you can decide if it is worth it. I have seen it for myself and it is stunning. Of course as with DVD and Blu-Ray discs quality can vary from one movie to another or from one studio to another.

If you only had the iPad or iPad 2 I'd say SD would be fine but HD video looks amazing on the new iPad due to the fact its resolution is now higher than that of 1080p.
