havent heard Magic Hour...didnt even know they had named a new album let alone released it! :-O.

But i do love their debut album! And loved their cover of Pink Floyd!

What got me into them the controversy surrounding it tbh....but what a great album that is....sad to see that they havent reached that level of commercial/critical success again tbh.

Tah-Dah! is a solid album, while only a quarter the quality of the first album...and i love Night Work...remember buying Night Work and Aphrodite that same week...campest week of my summer ever! But brilliant overall....nice mix of Dance/Pop Punk styles.

Looks like i will have to give this one a try.

Aw I like a lot of their music, their new one Only the Horses is really good I think plus I love their style, they're insane but just don't care which is basically their appeal. Saw them on Graham Norton last week, have to admit Ana rocked that red dress much better than Cameran Diaz

okay listened to some of Magic Hour...i am impressed....love that Stuart (Confessions On A Dance Floor) Price is at the helm of some songs here too!

SOunds like a mix of their debut and their last album cranked up together....

I love Ta-Dah more i find SS to be a bit hard work and after Filthy/Gorgeous the quality slides whereas Ta-Dah is more consistent even more camp and much more accessible if not as adventurous or controversial whereas Night Work was a great direction gone was the cabaret instead was funked up nu-disco and Magic Hour i love it great mix of of the moment dance and really different sounds love Shady Love, Lets Have A KiKi

Again i think its that campness vibe that divides us Hav_ i dig "camp" in a more kinda absurd kinda way as opposed to the kinda "close to cheese" camp you get for me. I guess thats why i dont like it as much, but as i say enjoyable...but Stu Price got them "into the groove" a lot more i feel Night Work as an album is the Sex.

Some very art dance vibes ala Confessions, some light euphoria a la Aphrodite released that week, and some experimental/rocky a la Day & Night (the Killers) and some pure popiness a la Progress

I wouldnt say Ta-Dah is cheesy its very much in the favour of late 70's disco a record perfectly suited for studio 54.

And yes Night Work i still dont know what you would call it funk i suppose but either way it certainly works its alot more distant and cool than their first two works magic hour brings back the fun in a way and gutted Invisible Light never got a proper release.

Invisible Light is the finest production Stu Price has done since 2006 IMO of course....but it truly is a wasted opportunity especially as Radio 1 were behind it.

I loved it when Fearne Cotton premiered it and she said from the producer Madonnas Confessions On A Dance Floor come Scissor Sisters new song, and Jo Whiley before she left and Sarah Cox and Scott Mills all referred to COADF and The Killers (but of course my reaction was on lesser scale...tho i do dig the Day & Night album!)

I actually feel Night Work is their best album overall from the Sticky Fingers and LAP influenced cover of the male buttox rather than crotch shot....very sexy/keitsch

And yeah i knew youd love it...so so so funny that dude from Queens Of The Stone Age marketing it an all.

Cannot believe i didnt acknowledge Magic Hour was out this week

The whole era was wasted just 1 hit single off the album when there could and should have been so many more and SP has made quite a name for himself now.

And that cover is just epic and i think its definitely their strongest body of work but i dnt think they could ever surpass their debut that is just magic and a rarity in music.

And well you know now it is honestly amazing Shady Love with azealia etc.

Love a bit of the Scissor Sisters! Is there anything in the way of Shady Love on the new album? If so, I might give it a whirl.

Yes there are quite a few songs in that direction its actually a really great variety of sounds and directions probably their most divers and interesting since their debut if not necessarily their best.

its strange ... the tracks I adore by the SS on their albums are their more obscure tracks. I adore Shady Love, F Yeah and Lets have a Kiki on the new album. Only the Horses is this albums Fire With Fire. Some tracks have melodies similar to other popular songs Best In Me (La Isla Bonita); Self Control (Finally, Show Me Love). Its hit an miss album for me.... but there are some fresh songs on the album which maintain my love for them.

I find the problem with SS is that their albums are rarely consistent like if magic hour were more Shady, Love Kiki, **** Yeah etc it'd be a masterpiece but too often it slips into ''accessible'' i.e Fire With Fire, Only The Horses, I Don't Feel
Like Dancing i think only there debut is free of that and if i had to rate their albums.

Night Work- A great reinvention and use of Funk, Electro, And Disco 7/10

SS- Consistent Catchy and original but the material slides after F/G 6/10

Magic Hour- A mixed bag its either great or meh 6/10

Ta-Dah- A bit Cabaret heavy and them creating an album that they feel people want rather than making the album they wanted 5/10

And self control so sounds like Show Me Love

Overall Magic Hour has some real impressive moments and also a few dull moments but overall i will say its a very good overall album on two spins thus far.

Kiki and Shady Love are definite favourites

I wish Magic Hour stuck to the dance/electro aspect and really utilised the title. Shady Love, Kiki, Keep Your Shoes On are my favourite tracks. I wish the Shady Love video had Azealia Banks in it and was something really out there too. Bah.

Yeah i reckon with more time and effort and budget it would have been an insane video ....its fun but i want SS fun

Yeah the ballads kinda weaken the euphoric melodies and structure....its a very breezy dynamic album i feel.

While i feel their debut and Night Work as whole albums are better...i really do dig Magic Hour thus far.

I think Magic Hour shines on tracks such as Shady Love, kiki, Only the Horses, inevitable, best in me, self control the rest falls sub par and stops what could have been such a great album.

And as for scrapping shady love could have been a IDFLD moment nut alas.

And they are in at #4 with 19,000+ considering last weeks #1 album was only 13,000+ well done guys may be their lowest yet but at the mo all sales are low.

That is solid...again i have no idea why so so many are criticising sales...ala MDNA sales with zero promo selling almost 60,000....while last week number 1 only sold 13,000 and Barlow this week with Jubilee promo sold just over 40,000....i mean CMOOOOON!!!!

And SS MH sold just under what Marina sold which is impressive....and what again with Barlow and Paloma as competition on the albums side of things they did very well considering Only The Horses was a minor hit really...not even breaking top 10! So well done indeed to them

I think Night Work sold over 40,000 in 2010 but not sure where and if read correctly when they had Eminams Recovery as chart competition...so again very well done

Exactly sales are incredibly low at the moment so a top 10 is to be applauded.

And as for Barlow king of MOR cannot believe he beat Paloma with that drivel but i wont cry

Tbh the only album new in the top 10 i do own is Magic Hour so i aint fussed

But tbh i did know itd be Barlow with this weekend tbh....but no idea how low the sales would be :yawn::sleep:

Haha I'm starting to feel that way the top 40 is now mostly filled with Mediocrity.

Put it this way.....very few songs i love from this year have made the singles top 40...let alone top 10/number 1! VERY few!

So the fact that legends like Madonna, icons like Kylie, Britney, grace jones, garbage and even up and comers/recent artists gossip, Robyn etc rarely impact the top 40 these days only shows it tbh.

Unless your name is RIhanna, Katy Perry or gaga, Pop music really doesnt imapct the charts.

So there tbh....and really??? i honestly didnt think Paloma would be top 3 hense again her single not performing massively, her long break and her promoting on the lottery didnt think it would be a massive competition and the Jubileee i immediately though Barlow would have number 1.....but only 6,000 ahead of Paloma....now thats pretty

Words of wisdom again JP by rights only the horses is so on trend and should have had a lot more recognition as it still manages to stand out in a sea of mediocrity.

And Rihanna and especially Kp I don't mind reigning for a long time but Gaga is getting old.

And tbh i will only take Rihanna as i know she will be really heading places when she is mainly focused on the direction of her music...i really like TTT....but Rated R is a master....stroke and good girl gone bad really paved a lot for the R&B/Pop blurring genre really! so i do hope she really puts effort into it a lot more.

I mean she has headlined the use of Dubstep/Pop/Dance over the past few years and sparked a lot of trends she reminds me a little of grace jones, Madonna and Kylie in a bubble really with Britney marketable appeal. its interesting.

With KP i dont know too much about really but i know both of her albums are ok but i really hope her next album is like her true first defining moment...her perhaps "Like A Prayer" of current age....not in terms of scale (nothing can) but of personal struggles with her marriage, life etc would be interesting id be there for that like her peers Blackout/Rated R and/4 had

As for gaga....well i am so lukewarm to her right now...fanbase has killed attention, i have had abuse thrown my way for no reason, its difficult to truly appreciate her amongs the hypocracy of what she stands for....its stupid! But whatever to it.
