Oh well, thats what she is and she is gorgeous

Thank you for the advice re biting - I actually do most of what has been suggested. I praise her highly when she licks my hand and tell her a very stern NO when she bites. If she is doing it badly then I pick her up, look her in the eyes and say no. We have tried the yelping, this does sometimes work but then 5 mins later she is at it again! Seems like she thinks fingers and ears are a continuation of her toys!

I will look into the bitter spray that someone mentioned as that could be worth a go now.

You may be giving mixed messages if sometimes you say no and sometimes yelp, you need to keep up the squealing and make it sound like it really hurts, high pitched. Your pup will soon get it, but you have to stick to one way of teaching it.

My older dog likes to nibble my toes. It's lovely!
But she gets a bit over enthusiastic at times. At which point I scream and withdraw foot. Dog is suitable chastened.

I have a 3 year old pug and a 22 week old pug pup, who still bites and mouths now and then. Gradually she is growing out of it. The best way I have found is to ignore them and they eventually stop it. Give the pup plenty to chew to help sore gums. This is just something pups do and she will grow out of it. Pugs are stubborn little dogs and they don't like to give up on a good game so punishment/shouting rarely works. Just get up and walk away to give them the signal that this isn't acceptable behavior.

Thanks guys, the bitter spray someone mentioned - is that the same as the stuff they sell in pet shops, the stuff that says its for furniture? If so can you put it on your fingers?

I got the Bob Martin bitter spray and it did precisely zero, don't know if it has worked for other people or not.

I used the Grannicks brand and it worked. You have to keep applying it daily as it evaporates.
