World In Motion - nothing else comes close.
One of the coolest bands ever teaming up with actual England players; and the build up to the Barnes rap is brilliant "we want goals, against Mexico they got one, a little beauty scored by Bobby Charlton".
It was like nothing that had gone before and still sends a shiver down the spine.

There's no official song commissioned by the FA, but they're backing Chris Kamara's 'Sing 4 England' as the official England Euro song I believe.

It's not up there with my favourite England football songs, but apparently 100% of the proceeds are going to Marie Curie Cancer Care, so no complaints with this song.

Well into page 2 and no mention of the seminal Spain '82 This Time ?! 'Twas a classic!

I'm another for World in Motion, it was Italia 90 that got me into football, also have a soft spot for Back Home, although it was a few years before I was born.

Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds - Three Lions 98 is by far my favorite.
Followed by the 96 version.
Followed by Fat Les - Vindaloo

Most of them are awful and the more recent ones are awful and tacky.

I'd like Baddiel, Skinner & The Seeds to reunite for the next world cup to make a 2014 version.

Was this meant to be a football song? I really like it but it always strikes me as a basic New Order song with football bits added! What have the lyrics got to do with football? I dont mean the rap or the end chant but the actual chorus. Loves got the World In motion etc. SOunds more like a love song to me! As I said I do like it but I always imagined that the verse and chorus were to be a normal single and they added all the other stuff to turn it into a football song.

I like that one too (and it was 12 years before I was born!)

Dont think anything compares to Back Home it was played non stop on r1 in the summer of 1970, and we used to listen to it on our trannies ,

Also used to Love This time , as well very catchy tune for the 82 World cup Squad

World In Motion

It's just a great song. Barnesy's rap is awesome.

Not mentioned so far, but this is a belter:

Otherwise, World in Motion, Vindaloo or 3 Lions 96.

Hated 3 Lions 98 as they let pillocks like Chris Evans and Robbie Williams jump on the bandwagon and appear in the video. Tainted the whole thing for me.

I think it's an improvement on the 96 version. The "OH IT'S SAAAAVED!" intro does it for me. + We still believe + better sound quality.

Best England football song ever made:

The Macc Lads - St George

Generally, I like most of them for what they are, novelty football songs.

In my opinion, the best lyrically is 3 Lions, the original from '96...the '98 version isn't terrible but it annoyed me that half the players name checked in the lyrics didn't even play in the '98 finals.

World in Motion by England New Order is the coolest football song... On the Ball was OK. Back Home reminds me now of Fantasy Football League!

World at Your Feet by Embrace was a good song, but not a great football anthem as it didn't really have the "hook" for me.
