Les Miserables - Official Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpojeVWb96U
Impressed with the cinematography so far and the casting is pretty much spot on, although I don't think Geoffrey Rush's depiction of Javert will be topped just yet. |

The trailer looks good. Gutted that we have to wait until January to see it.

It looks amazing and I am loving the raw intensity of Anne Hathaway here, if the rest of the singing comes up to this standard I will be very happy! I can't wait for this but agree why January when the US gets it at the start of December (although it's probably Oscar related).

Oh my. I can see Miss Hathaway bagging a few awards for that.

Looks good, I like Hathaway's take on I Dreamed a Dream, the vocal isn't perfect instead it focuses on the emotion of the song, I agree I definitely think she could get awards for this, an oscar nomination seems certain.
Looking forward to seeing how well Samantha Barks does, this film could be the making of her, I liked her in I'd Do Anything but haven't seen her in anything since then so not sure how good of an actress she is. I've seen a few film blogs tip her for Oscar success too, given that she has one of the musical's biggest songs 'On My Own', using Jennifer Hudson as an example how having a massive number in a musical can help bag at least a nomination. Personally, I doubt it unless it's a slow year for Supporting Actresses, also I can she her being overshadowed by Anne Hathaway. |

Anne's vocals sound pretty thin.

Hugh Jackman won't be singing Empty Chairs - Eddie Redmayne will be. Won't comment on whether you sang it better or not!

That trailer gave me mini goosies! That looks so good. Anne Hathaway surprised me actually. I read somewhere that they've used live singing in this film, which is an interesting approach. I think she sounds wonderful - a completely broken version of the song, instead of the big belting emotionless versions that are ten a penny.
Cannot wait for this. |

I loved that version of I dreamed a dream. Clearly they know the limitations of Anne Hathaway's voice and have worked around it, to great effect.

Trailer gave me goosebumps. Not a pitch perfect version of the song but so much raw emotion in her voice. Really looking forward to this.

I'm not sure about that actually. She sang at the opening of the Oscars with Hugh Jackman and she wasn't awful. She's got a much stronger voice than you would think from hearing that clip. I think it is deliberately sung that way, but I love it. It represents exactly what the song is about in my opinion.

I like the trailer, though a bit nonplussed by how much of the spotlight is on Hathaway... after all,
Spoiler
Anyone else think that this version of I Dreamed a Dream might differ to the one used in the actual film? Could be going for a slightly more stripped back approach to denote the overall tone of the film. Either way... Looking forward to it! It won't beat the experience of seeing it live but I love the idea of being able to stick on a DVD of the production whenever I feel like it

I'm not sure about this film, I love the stage musical so much that I doubt I'll be impressed.
Anne Hathaway does sound good though I wish they had shown more of the other characters. |

"I Dreamed A Dream" is now the most well-known song from the show, thanks to Susan Boyle's massacring of it. So I guess it makes sense to use it as the spine of the teaser trailer, hence the focussing on Fantine's character

I really cannot wait for this, which is saying something as I never get excited over upcoming films.
I'm looking forward to seeing further trailers featuring more of the cast. |

The fact it is being released during awards season suggests that there are high hopes for the film in any case. |
