Why does everybody on here hate Gary Barlow now? Because of the XFactor?

It's a job. No one forces them to sign up. No one forces them to sign up, start a family and piss of to Fight. Its a choice. There are other safer jobs available. So if you chose that line of work don't be surprised when the inevitable happens and you have to go to war or get involved in dangerous situations. It's not a secret what the army is all about. Joiners build, plummers plum and armed forces fight. News flash!”

Really the above comments show what a narrow minded moron you are. Soldiers generally join the army to protect and serve their country. They would much rather not be involved in fighting and armed combat losing their lives, friends and colleagues you really do have a very twisted and bitter outlook on life.

I am not a royalist but seeing school children and many youths of today actively participating in positive celebrations given the last few years of cutbacks and recession shows what is Great about being British something we should all be proud about.

I know I will enjoy the bank holiday weekend and make the most of the celebrations. As for the song not really had much publicity or radio play but that should change over the next week.
Music is a choice just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's rubbish it's just not your taste. Voicing an opinion of not enjoying a track is fine but why do we have to slag it off and slate the artists. We appear to live in a country of green eyed monsters who cannot stand anyone doing well or achieving anything so they must try and put them down to compensate for their own sad life.

They choose to join up. They know what they are getting into, so they don't want to be involved in fighting then they've confused 'army' with something else or are just daft.

Years of cut backs and they are asking us to celebrate the life of a Multimillionaire who we, the ones suffering the cutbacks, have to pay for. Being British means nothing if you're not from London. I'm from Scotland that's about 400 miles away from British

I think that may have been true 20 or 30 years ago or more - but I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of young guys and girls join the army is because there are no jobs out there.

The song? Its just pretty mediocre (the lyrics are pathetic). Its one merit is it is possibly a bit better than our entry in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. And really - Barlow shouldn't be entirely to blame - Andrew Lloyd Webber co-wrote this drivel.

I think you spend too long worrying about the unimportant things. Every sensible person realises the Queen is a historical, constitutional figurehead. Someone who is used to represent the people of Britain and the Commonwealth on the international stage. She represents continuity and stability. She is instantly recognisable as "Britain" and as such does her job incredibly well. Sobering news for anti-royalists is that at present, 80 per cent of the population support the monarchy. 13% don't. 7% couldn't care less.

I think people need to start living their lives and enjoying it rather than worrying about whether the Queen was elected for. I don't think that really matters. The fact is we do get to vote for the people who actually run the country.

I am also from Scotland born and raised and lived their 28 years. Being British has nothing to do with living in London. You obviously have a huge chip on your shoulder.

I am thankful to every single person who serves in our armed forces. As previously stated the majority of young people who enter the forces do not do it to fight. Your reply just confirms that you have serious hang ups in life.

I'm once again failing to see any merit in this song by Mr. Barlow i really do not see the fuss there are way more talented writers in this country who get overlooked in favour of people like Gb but he is nice and inoffensive so ill give him his dues.

And as for the debates raging on about the Jubilee it really does not bother me i couldnt be less bothered about someone born into privilege but i respect some people do and will enjoy the weekend so as they say each to their own.

I've analysed this sentence from many different angles and I still can't get it to make sense.

You are right on both counts BUT (and I am no big royalist!) they do actually work for a living and the Queen is probably the hardest working of them all which is pretty impressive for her age. They also bring in loads of revenue from tourism and as a family are pretty civilised unlike other heads of states in other countries.

Yes they sign up to serve their country as do fireman , police etc . You should be thankful for that as if no one signed up then we would have national service and you or one of your own loved ones may lose their lives whilst fighting to protect our democracy!

Some soldiers do that, for sure. Mostly those who have a family history of military service.

However, there are an awful lot of squaddies who joined the army because they are either unable to get other employment due to economic circumstances, or in some cases because they're too thick for anything else.

True, Kurt Cobain pulled the plug on himself after he knew this was going to happen in years to come...

Whilst I don't agree to that degree, he does write a bloody good pop song.

The song in question by Wet Blanket Barlow is duller than a combination of our National Anthem & the old hags Xmas Speech. It deserves to flop.
