Flight was on time in the morning and Peeve picked me up from the airport.
After Seren, Barbaram, Fridgy, wrenny arrived we had a lovely lunch, lots of chat. KAfan arrived later.
I got my ticket later than the others and was in the stalls, had a good view of the stage, however some around me 'were sitting on their hands' At the interval moved to the balcony with the others as there were spare seats. Seren said to me at one point to look at the sour faces behind us, and this was before we stood up or danced. On coming out when the lady spoke to seren I thought she was going to be complimentary until she added about people being unable to see, my reaction was they should have stood up as well.
We then found out where the stage door was and proceeded to there by this time the rain was like stairods, however we were under arches which kept us dry. Robin first appeared, then some of the band and finally Kara and Artem. They didn't spend very long with us as they were getting hurried along.
Back to Peeve's for coffee and snacks before KAfan showed Fridgy and Wrenny the road to the motorway, seren,Barbaram and myself were staying over, just like a school sleepover. After breakfast Barbaram took seren to the station and as my flight home was not until later in the afternoon Peeve took me to the Cheddar Gorge and to Wells.
Have had a lovely time meeting up with everybody again, great chats, seeing DTTM worth every penny and effort, roll on the next time.
Thanks for the report glad you had a great time at the show

Lovely to see Nicki up on stage and afterwards but sadly none of the dancers came to the stage door.
Not much of a report writer but I have got photos, including some of Nicki on stage, some are a bit fuzzy but I have put them up so you can see them.Just got to work out how to link my folder now.!!
thanks for the report those were my favourite 2 dances too

Anyway, I've come out of lurkdom to say (belatedly) what a fantastic time was had by all at Bristol on Thursday evening. Wonderful show, great company and lovely to meet Tracynoe! Wrenny and Seren have given their usual high quality extensive reports so I only have a few observations to add. As Kara says, the Band are the unsung heroes of Strictly and this is their opportunity to showcase their talents. The music they play and sing is guaranteed to get everyone clapping and jigging around (well apart from those who think that polite applause is sufficient response and they create a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. I think the show is constantly evolving with changes still being made but I thought the overall balance of dance and music was fine bearing in mind that Artem is restricted to some extent while he continues to recover from his knee injury. Having said that, he dances to his usual incredibly high standard and if you didn't know he has had an injury, you probably wouldn't notice.

It's great to see Bobby and Kristina dancing together - they seem to suit each other's style - one thing that struck me was that Bobby looks at the audience quite a lot while dancing with Kristina which for me detracts from the emotion of their dancing. Needless to say that Kara and Artem dance as though there is an invisible thread between them and seem to create their own world for those few minutes oblivious of where they are and what or who is around them - it is truly magical. I loved watching Kara dance Swan Lake - she is so elegant and graceful. I'm also pleased that one of their other dances is the jail scene from Chicago although a different costume would give it the edginess that it needs. It would have been great to see them all do the jive together but perhaps another time...

I liked the chatty interludes with Kara, Bobby and Kristina taking it in turns to introduce each others dances, and Artem is an absolute natural when he takes centre stage for the audience participation section - he manages to be gentle and funny and kind and and seems very much at ease in that role. He has all the potential to be a great presenter - I'm sure 'someone' will have spotted his talent...

So all those still to see DTTM are in for a fabulous time and because I didn't get enough of it at Bristol, I've booked a seat at Swindon - can't wait, and perhaps they will have finished Kara's white swan dress by then!

Before I go back to lurkdom, I just want to welcome all the newbies, thank those who provide so much information (you know who you are) and wish Clartem a very happy birthday
Thanks for the report ,I agree with what you are saying about Artem on the mike he is a natural ,I am glad people are getting a chance to see he personality

Sorry, didn't get any photographs .... there was a very firm sounding announcement of no photographs/filming and from where I was sitting, I didn't see anyone brave enough to take photographs/film.

Durning Kara's introduction she described the show as a 'variety show' and it is certainly that! Music from so many different genres and eras as well dancing that is both traditional and contemporary. When it was just the SCD band my eyes were darting everywhere to take in the huge number of musicians and vocalists and I was enjoying every minute of their amazing sound ...... yet when Artem & Kara and/or Robin & Kristina were on the stage dancing my eyes were on stilts watching the dancing, I completely forgot the band was there!

I think by now everyone understands the quality of the performances and last night was no different, everything was spot on! (Kara became the white swan - her costume was a white lycra cat suit with floaty bits, sorry that's as much as I can remember. I think there was a 'small' incident - where she drops through Artem's legs and he pushes along the floor - she had a fit of the giggles until the end of the performance.) I won't go on in detail about each dance (avoiding going over old ground for those that have been and not spoiling it too much for those that have yet to go), instead I'll share the 'funny' and 'sweet' things that happened - Kara talked about her love of dancing, yet tinged with sadness that after the Strictly tour she has not danced again! One of the pitfalls of living with her 'boyfriend' - he doesn't want to come home from having danced all day and twirl her around the living room. Robin had a 'tanning malfunction', after one dance it was literally seeping through his shirt. After sharing this with the audience someone shouted 'take it off', Robin lost the plot! He could not stop laughing! The audience thought this was hilarious, the lady behind me shouted 'breathe Bobby!' During the audience participation Kara announced to the audience she was wearing Chelsee's costume (Chelsee was in the audience) Artem said something along the lines of 'SSShhhh, don't tell everyone Buba'.

My Sister-in-Law came with me and she is an ex-competitive dancer like myself - she loved the show! She is a hardened Brian Fortuna fan! As well as a Natalie Lowe fan! She enjoys the more traditional side of choreography/content ..... but I think she might actually be turning ....... She loves how masculine Robin is when he dances and she described him as the perfect foil for Kristina. She couldn't get over just how good Kara is and she loves Artem's creativity - she described him as the 'Master of the Show'. She is totally convinced all 3 pro dancers will be in the next series of Strictly .......... still keeping everything crossed!
Thanks for the report glad you and your SIL loved the show, poor Bobby with his tanning malfunction
I can't wait to see Kara's white swan costume

Knowing some of the characters going I think at least one section of the audience will drown the sweetie wrappers rustling

wonderful report - thank you for sharing it
Love all the little details and hearing how much fun they are having on stage. I bet the last night in Southend will be emotional!
So pleased Kara is a white swan now, hope we get to see that

As freckles88 said it wonderful to see Artem taking the mic and audiences getting to see another side of him. I hope they show more of that on SCD this year (presuming he is back which I am confident he will be!)

Wrenny, Seren, Eselle and barbaram - thank you for your versions of our evening in Bristol - it was so much fun and you've each brought out different elements. I don't think I've much to add, except to agree, the Bristol crowd was a little...let's call it ....'reserved' .

It was lovely to meet Robin afterwards (we'd seen him at Plymouth, but were preoccupied with Kara and Artem). He was lovely and friendly and, as others have said, looks really different close to. I've always liked him, but mostly because he seems like a 'nice chap' and is Artem's best bud, but thought he was a bit bulky and even a bit 'brutish' in appearance (for a dancer, I mean). In person, he's much slighter and gentler looking - quite handsome, actually! We were musing about this in the car back to peeve's and couldn't decide quite what's going on. Everyone says the telly makes people look much larger than real life, but they look different on stage too. It can't just be about lighting ....

It was interesting seeing the performance a second time and properly think about the dancing. Robin and Kristina have a very athletic stlye (I think someone has said already that Kristina is very gymnastic, which is so true). It's incredibly dynamic and exciting to watch and is a brilliant foil to Kara and Artem who are both so graceful. I think my own preference (if there was only a single style allowed ) would be the grace and beauty of Kara and Artem - there's a stillness about them which is mesmerising (if you can talk about stillness in movement! ). Fortunately, there's room for both and I've a new found respect Kristina and Bobby's partnership.

When they do the audience participation bit and the four dancers are in a line doing the pony (?) and the 'mash po-tayy-toww' (™Kristina ) it's all a bit of silliness, but I think even in this, the way Artem moves really stands out. He looks so easy and effortless .

Hope we see pics of the white swan....

Hello People

Just wondering if those that are on the private group Kara and Artems Fans on Facebook are having issues with the group as I was on it last night happily mooching about, and today I am unable to find it at all.....although others can see it?

Any ideas?

So what can I add to the reviews already given. The standard of the dancing and the singing was incredibly high. From the opening notes of "Feelin Good" sang by Lance Ellington to the closing dances with everyone in the seats up dancing it was brilliant. I was totally won round by the dancers (have always been a Brendan girl in the past), and I think it's up there with Brendan's show as my favourite so far this year (have also seen Anton and Erin (also fantastic but lacked the interaction with the crowd) and Vincent and Flavia (very good dancing but couldn't get into that one at all)

I was three rows from the front and this is what sticks out in my mind:

- Robin and the fake tan seepage, was so funny to see him laughing and completely lose what he was meant to be saying
- Artem having no idea where Bolton was (or Urmston, Wigan or Leigh)
- Kristina saying "Mashed Potato" - fab accent
- Robin getting carried away with the hip swivelling when everyone else had stopped
- The genuine warmth and friendship between both couples
- The singers and band - highlights being My Girl, Mr Bojangles, Over The Rainbow and Crazy In Love
- Andrea's fake eyelashes - so huge they were casting shadows on her face
- Lance Ellington – always smiling and dancing away and being a complete gentleman keep passing Toni’s water to her so she didn’t have to lean down for it
- Kristina and Robin’s dances to Over the Rainbow and Jar of Hearts
- Kara and Artem’s Viennese Waltz and Swan Lake – and Kara’s fit of giggles at the end of the latter, not sure what happened there
- What keep_dancing has already mentioned about Kara’s talk of loving dancing and living with a dancer
- Kara’s comment on wearing Chelsee’s costume but not filling the boob bit
- Right at the end Kristina, Kara, Artem and the singers were all holding hands ready to take a final bow and Robin was still dancing away. Artem shot him a look and Robin danced over to join the rest of them

I’m sure there’s more but that’s what immediately springs to mind.

I’m sure there’s more but that’s what immediately springs to mind.
great report loved the layout and the extra bit about boob filling costumes.

LOVE IT!

love the detail ceeveepee! Cheers

It has taken me a wee while to read all the truly wonderful reports posted over the last few days. Some of the descriptions are just beautiful. I'm rubbish at multi quoting so excuse me selecting just a few.

Babaram,
'..there is an invisible thread between them and seem to create their own world...truly magical..'

Keep-dancing referring to Artem as the 'Master of the Show'

Fridgesoup contrasting Bobby and Kristina,
'..brilliant foil to Kara and Artem who are both so graceful..' and says '..there is a stillness about them which is mesmerising...'

ceeveepee, YSL, nina-s and the 'Bristol gang' have also written some brilliant reviews full of appreciation for the dance and humour of good times shared. Thank you all.

I see Kara has transformed into a white swan..giggles et al!

So next stop Edinburgh, one of my favourite cities. Great to know we have a newbie in the audience.

Lovely report ceeveepeee!
So glad you mentioned BIB. He's a bit of a dude, isn't he? .....and such a good mover (he was great at both 'stage doors' I was at - really pleased to chat and seems to really want to hear feedback - nice guy, I thought )

Him performing was one of the pushes for me to see the show. First saw him at Anton and Erin's show this year and he has the most amazing voice and come across as such a nice guy who really seems to love what he does. His version of Feelin' Good is amazing so I was delighted to spot it in the set listing and even happier when they opened with it. I recorded a couple of his songs on my phone last night, haven't checked to see how they came out yet.

I did consider a stage door trip but the weather was too bad and I'd have missed my train. Would love to meet him and the rest of the cast! Wish I was going again but I'm working when they're in Liverpool.
