Anyone remember BItch? The Runaways, the Go Go's? The Bangles even, Susannah Hoffs was/is actually a pretty good guitarist.

Most Girl bands seem to have come from America. Britain has produced The Belle Stars (who grew out of The Bodysnatchers), Toto Cohelo and Bananarama but the Americans were more authentic.

There was music before the year 2000 you know.”

Girl groups nowadays do nothing for women. It was all about feminism in the earlier days. Bands like The Saturdays are just shallow airheads with nothing to say.

But I'm just a GrumpyOldMan so what do know?”

To be fair the thread is about UK girl groups not US although all those you mention do piss all over those in the poll, I'm surprised you never mentioned Girlschool though.

I'm a little surprised that Sugababes v.4 got more votes than v.3! Jade didn't fit in the songs, Get Sexy was NOT for her and the songs were written with Keisha in mind. So.... a little confusing.

All Saints by far!!!!! They were the real deal!!!

Incomplete list.

The correct answer is Thee Headcoatees.

Personally, my favourite is The Saturdays.

Girls Aloud are brilliant as well though, not far behind them.

Eternal by a mile they were a great group!

Little Mix, even though they've only had one single.

But I have to say my favourite Sugababes is v.2!

Ah, I hadn't noticed the UK thing. Better add Strawberry Switchblade then.

Oh, I remembered it was Bertha who "Had Balls" not Fanny.

Not familiar with Girlschool although I had heard the name.

Definitely showing my age now some I'm off out of here!

Spice Girls all the way.

Showing my age but it's Bananarama all the way, particularly before they joined the Stock Aitken and Waterman corporate machine! Good times dancing around to the likes of "Shy Guy" and "Cruel Summer".

The poll should be up soon ”

You didn't mention the 411 nor Eternal, which I think you should have. I wasn't a fan of Eternal but they had a successful career as a quartet and even after Louise departure. The 411's mention is debatable though
It was a very close call between the SG, AS & GA but I voted for the Spice Girls. I've always been a fan of them even though All Saints had something going for them musically and vocally that I really liked!

One of the Beverley Sisters was a WAG. It's a well known fact that at least one member of a successful girl group has to be a WAG.
