Why do they insist on putting the final on Sunday nights?

Every year they seem to have it on a Wednesday for the whole run, and then bump the final to the Sunday. It seems ridiculous Surely more people would watch in on Wednesday, as thats when they expect it to be on?

I suppose its so they can have a two hour programme which they can't do on Wednesday as the news is on at 10pm

I don't normally mind it as it gives a bit of 'event TV' to the Sunday evening, but to schedule it at the peak of the long weekend this time around is a bit stupid in my opinion.

Exactly. Scheduling it in the middle of the Jubilee seems a bit dumb.

I'd rather see the final on a Saturday. It makes me wonder just how seriously or up the order the Apprentice is afforded at the Beeb.

It has not alwas been like that, it was only last series, or at a push the series before where they moved the final to a sunday, and if I remember correctly the reason they moved it that year was because if it had been on the wednesday night it would have transmitted on the same night as the champions league final, i.e meaning it wold not get many viewers, and they have left it like it since

Yes it's from when it was moved to a Sunday in 2009 to avoid the champions league. It worked well ratings wise so they've stuck with the format ever since. I suppose it does make it more of an 'event'.

Series 5, actually, I think!

So that's a full half of the series now.

I never knew the final was tonight and missed it and now it's all spoilt :'(!

Normally it works, but to park it in the middle of a 4-day holiday was just nuts. If that wasn't bad enough, BBC1 was running 20 minutes late tonight as a knock-on result of over-running Jubilee coverage.

As you'll notice during the knockout stages of Euro 2012, generally quite mediocre programmes are scheduled following a football match. This means if a game goes to extra time and subsequently penalties, it doesn't really matter if they're running an hour behind.

So quite why the BBC thought it was sensible to schedule the final of one of their biggest shows following a live OB that was susceptible to an over-run is just barmy.

But I'm in the camp that says privatise the buggers, so I'm probably in a minority!
