I've reported my cat missing to a number of sites, including the Battersea Cats & Dogs Home.

But do they ever share this information? Is it integrated in any way?

He's been missing since 11pm last night and I'm at my wits' end. He doesn't go missing like other cats. So scared something has happened to him.

Cats can go off for days and then come home.
Some peoples cats can come back years later.

They do tend to share resources. A chipped cat has a greater chance.

I sympathise with you when you're cat dose some thing that is not in their usual pattern you can't stop worrying - unfortunately apart from asking your neigbours to look in their garages and walk up and down a few roads tio check he's not lying injured in a bush or ditch some where there's not really a lot you can do. I just hope your cat turns up ok .

I've been through this a couple of times and my cat always showed up. First things first check everywhere you can think of in your house and garden. Next step is to start posting leaflets through doors and out posters up around your area.

Search high and wide in your area, calling he's name. Search under cars and near alleyways...anywhere thats hidden. Try putting up notices on a notices board. Check everywhere and keep calling him from your garden. Fingers crossed.

Always worth putting up posters and asking around your local vets and shops if anyone has reported your cat and ask if they can put a notices up. I always find it worth asking around local people too.

My cat went missing a few weeks ago, i put pics of him on several sites, the missing pets bureau were fab and a lovely lady rang me to say she had people in the area who would also look out for him, i put posters everywhere, knocked on doors, he didnt come back on his own but luckily he was found by a ladies daughter that i had givena poster too.

oh i even contacted my local new paper and they put a free story in for me about him, and they ran another small story when he was found, i had so many phone calls from people that had spotted him

He just returned home a few hours ago. Peeked out the window, and there he was, strolling down the garden path, cool as you like. He smelled all musty and covered in dust, but is otherwise uninjured and healthy. Very hungry though - the little rascal devoured 2 pouches of Felix in about 5 minutes!

Seriously can't describe how happy I am that he's back. Literally crying with joy, even now. I know other people say their cats go for walkabouts for days, but it was completely out of the ordinary for him. He's an explorer, but he always comes home an hour or two after sunset.

I did all the posters stuff, ringing up the vets and so on. (Thank you all for the great advice!) Got a few calls from some lovely people locally that ultimately lead to dead ends, but he found his way back. I'm thinking he got trapped in a shed or a garage from the smell of him.

I've been wiping him a wet towel just to make sure he didn't pick up any hazardous mould in his fur or whatnot. Now he's fallen asleep on my lap and I don't plan on letting him out of my sight for a long, loooong time!

It's really stressful when our cats go walkabout like this and such a relief when they turn up . Both my younger cats have had overnight excursions over the past couple of weeks, Lucy went missing for a day and a night while Millie went off all night and didn't turn up until late the next afternoon. I'm trying to make myself relax more now - I tend to walk round my streets calling them like a demented person. Because they don't respond it makes me wonder how far our cats actually roam.

I know I ought to lock my cat flap at night but I sometimes go to bed early or get up late and my cats like their freedom. Generally, they do all stay inside at night, I think it's just that the recent hot weather has caused a change in their normal behaviour.

One of my colleagues told me I need to fit my cats with a tracking device.

last week Murphey unusually for him hadn't come home by the time we went to bed despite me leaving my bedroom window open he still hadn't retured be early morning. S just after 5am because I was so worried I got up and went out to look for him while I was checking one side of the road I heard him meow and there he was casually walking down the road. As soon as I opened the front door he raced into the kitchen clearly telling me he wanted reakfast.


as delighted as you are to see your cat home safely when they have got you all so worried you feel like giving them a good smacked bottom and send them to their pillow with no food..

So glad. It's always nice to see your cats come home after been away for a unsual amount of time. You must be overjoyed and good, we all want to hear the good stories here and i'm really glad he came home.
