... against your better judgement you've got the Katy Perry and Gaga remixes sorted, you've dug out some old school Rachel Stevens and you've got everything Almighty Records have ever produced.. What else, what other remixes, are you going to play? ...

Gay guys.. Kind of looking at contemporary, or totally really well done remixes of the usual stuff, or interesting covers suitable for a club...

I'm thinking along the lines of Lykke Li - I Follow River (the magician remix)

There isn't such a thing as gay music.

But Kylie's 'Your Disco Needs You' comes close.

This is why gay clubs will never appeal to me, as a gay guy. Too many stereotypes.

I like whatever music I like. I don't listen purely to things stereotyped to gay audiences.

I've helped playlist for Nevermind, Arq, Stonewall & Midnight shift on the Sydney gay strip, so here's what was most popular...

BTW/Teog/PF/Br - Gaga (various remixes etc depending on the DJ's mood)
Million Dollar Bill - Whitney Houston (crazy popular)
Get outta my way/Can't get you outta my head/spinning around (remix) - Kylie
Only Girl & rude boy- Rihanna
Dirty talk - Wynter Gordon
Dirty/come on over - Christina Aguilera
Till the world ends/gimmie more- Britney Spears
raise your glass/perfect - pink
We r who we r + blow - Ke$ha
Yeah 3x - Chris Brown
Whaddaya want from me + if i had you - Adam Lambert
Rolling in the deep (club mix) - Adele

And various others amongst the 4 clubs before Gaga showed up and overshadowed my playlist

Ah Cheers.. In Nottingham we're behind the times, I even heard Studio 54 - If You Could Read My Mind played last weekend!

Did Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers ever become popular anywhere over here?

Gay music is awful. I should know, I'm gay.
I hate the music they play in Gay clubs. I don't know why everyone thinks gay people like dance music and liberating trash like "Raise Your Glass"... I certainly don't.

Yeah, right, why have fun songs to party to when the obvious choice for a night out is morrisey.... That'll get the party going.

Try a couple of Mariah remixes? The David Morales remixes of Dreamlover and It's Like That are incredible and always go down really well.

Also Release Me by Agnes is an easy winner.

Also Euphoria by Loreen will be too. I'd go with general current chart stuff rather than the stereotypical stuff.

Got to say there are a lot of stereotypical tunes listed, not every gay person likes cheesey tunes & commercial R&B

I'm a huge Mariah fan, but I don't like any of her dance remixes... And she even states they're engineered towards the gay community. "Gay" dance music just does not appeal to me.

Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. They apply to the masses.

I wouldn't play based on the sexual orientation of the audience. I'd play them great danceable tunes. If they didn't appreciate this, I'd put it down to poor taste and I've no time for anyone with shockingly bad taste in music.
