Champagne/Cava/Proscecco Advice
Having a party for my husband hitting the big 5-Oh! I don't enjoy fizz but fully understand that others do and am planning on buying enough bottles for everyone to get a glass for the toast.
Can anyone give me advice on reasonable priced bottles of fizz that's not overly "dry". Thanks in advance. |

Not a big fan of bubbly either but one I would recommend is Freixenet. You can get it for less than a tenner and I'd say it's as good as a bog standard champagne.

Aldi do decent prosecco for around £6.99 a bottle.

Tesco finest champagne is £15 a bottle at the moment and is nicer than most champagnes more than double that price.

Sainsburies Valdo Prosecco is around £7 but is often on offer and you get discount for buying six or more. It is lovely. There are Cava's for around £4-5 in the supermarkets but they can be a bit cheesy.
If yopu don't like dry sparky try a demi sec or even asti spumante which is great nice and chilled and isn't as naff as the name suggests- amazing with a fresh strawberry popped in!! . Alternativley go for a cheap dry sparkly like Cava and add a few drops of cassis to make beautiful Kir Royales. Enjoy the party |

Thanks for all the advice. I'm quite liking the sound of the Sainsbury Valdo Prosecco and it's a good price.
Much appreciated everyone. |

You could make some cocktails with prosecco and peach juice.
Perhaps the most famous one is a thunder sky with champagne, creme de violette and St.Germain Elderflower cordial. Now that is a lovely colour. |

heartily recommend Ogio Frizzante, from Tescos
Frizzante is Italian semi-fizz - less sparkling than champagne types, and very drinkable.Normal strength, Freixenet is pretty much the best of the Cavas, I think. To be fair, I think pretty all alternative sparkling wines are enjoyable and good value compared with Champagne Personally, I would only buy Brut sparkling wines. semi-sweet sparklers are much less pleasant, |
