Gary Barlow

I have always been a Gary fan, and loved his solo work. His second album (yes the huge flop) deserved a hell of a lot more success. However when his solo career stalled it stalled badly so who would have ever thought we would see his solo name back on top of the charts.

He now looks set to grab the number 1 single next week addition to the ep topping the albums this week. Between these and his duet shame reaching number 2 with Robbie Williams really makes his solo discography looking alot more impressive.

I hope Gary in the future does more solo material but not at the cost of Take That as thats where he should stay.

Are there any other fans of his solo work here in particular his 2nd solo album 12 months 11 days?

Not really. I love Take That and disappointed they're not doing another album or tour this year but now we see why. Gary has been doing other things and there are 3 TT babies this year!

I love Sing and have just watched the documentary on how it was put together. It's a perfect song for the Diamond Jubilee. And very typically Gary Barlow.

The only solo song I loved from Gary was Forever Love then it all went pear shaped. If they hadn't tried to push him in America and ignored his British fans at the time maybe things would have been different. But it was all about Gobbie Williams. But I am now glad to see it all came round for Gary - bigger and better than ever.

'Sing' has really grown on me and i like what he has done but i'm not interested in him as a solo.

I really like Take That (4) as a group and love their music. I want more from them as a team, not interested in solo projects. I hear Mark is working solo now...

his solo material just was not good enough by any stretch of the imagination. `forever love` was not bad, neither was the discarded madonna song which followed that up. however, he was hyped up to the hilt from people like elton john and within the media. i remember the media suggesting `open road` was up there with `back for good` and it really wasn't. his second album was even worse in my opinion, but he did fall completely out of favour by then.

the thing is he ironically didn't have the `x factor` and robbie williams clearly did. as a solo singer his music was way too safe and he didn't challenge himself at all by trying different styles. robbie did seem to reveal in his misfortune, as did the media and that is what made his take that comeback all the more newsworthy. there is still a lot of stigma about gary and his abilities as a songwriter. only the other day i was reading negative comments regarding that and i agree he can be hit or miss.

however, some people are too cynical sometimes and just see take that now more of a mums band. sure he has wrote some serious turkeys, especially with songs for other artists. however, songs like `patience`, `rule the world` and `the flood` are truly great in my opinion.

I love the way he looks , and really enjoyed that Doc yesterday about it...though the song really isnt my cup of tea at all....it is brilliant seeing it all come together!

And tbh i prefer him with Take That...as a 5 piece...Progress was a surprise album for me in 2010

But yeah congrats on his number 1 album.

I myself prefer Garys work with take that, and yes the solo material was played safe, trying crack the american market at the time was a huge mistake but maybe without it we wouldnt have got the great take that material we have today as i really believe take that are much much better second time round.

12 months 11 days though in my opinion was a better album than open road and songs like yesterdays girl and lie to me were brilliant and should have been singles. Stronger was a terrible choice as lead single, but as gary said that album was dead before it was even released and he knew that.

I'm not a fan of either Gary or Cheryl but I thought it was ok. Nothing amazing, just average.
