Seriously get Margaret back.. I find it hilarious when she says that she managed a football team at age 24. From what I read a big part of that was donw to the fact that her dad owned the football club.

But anyway.. truth be told I don't know the exact specifics^^ let's assume she did get that job on merit and did a good job etc....

Why the hell go from managing a football team and end up as being Alan Sugar's sidekick? Half the time I'm thinking is she just doing a PAs job right now, walking around with a clipboard and just observing things.

I would much rather have Margaret back as the assistant. Margarat and Nick are likeable at least, they don't claim to be former England Manager or whatever, they're grounded.

I prefer Karren personally.

Margaret's facial expressions are genius but that's about it really. I find her a bit too snooty.

Karren actually offers really good input to the boardroom and on You're Fired. Nick and Margaret do too, but are just a little too miserable I feel.

If you're going to attack Karren you could at least get your facts right. Her father was once the chariman of Swindon Town and a director of Portsmouth, neither of which facts had anything to do with her own career in football. She was a director of David Sullivan's Sport Newspapers and spotted an advertised opportunity to buy Birmingham City, then in receivership. She persuaded Sullivan to put up the money to buy the club and he put her in charge of it as Managing Director, not as the Manager.

David Sullivan isn't her father, nor is she Alan Sugar's PA. Interesting you refer to her as Lord Sugar's observer, but Margaret as his assistant, doing the same thing.

I think you should give her more credit. Firstly, the owner wasn't her dad. It was her boss who bought the club at her persuasion. I still remember how hard the newspapers, football critics and fans were on her when she became the managing director of a football club. They attacked her by focusing on her body, her gender, her looks, her age and whether "the boys" in her club would shag her. Regardless, she stuck to her guns and stayed on. I mean, even with her slapped-arse face now, I respect her for that and probably always will.

She was a bit younger than what you said, too. Something like 22 or 23?

Ok I stand corrected.. but isn't it a bit of a downgrade though to go from being a manager to an assitant on the apprentice? Makes me question her role as a football team manager.

Both Karen and Nick are only there as YES persons to "Lordsugga". They contribute very little on the transmitted program.
These expressions by Nick and Margaret are so obviously staged now. Maybe they were genuine originally but now it's all set up by the director.

At first you wanted to say she wasn't good enough now when you find her standing in business is more credible than you though you're saying it's a step down so you don't trust her

Business people accept these roles as it's a way of getting on the telly quite simply. She has as much right as LA has of having the show in the first place let alone Nick and Margaret.

I thought Karen OK at first & a potential good replacement for Margaret whom I always respected ,but she has got a bit too mouthy for my liking. She tends to just stick her tuppence worth in unasked for at times ,in a way Margaret never would have done.I'm actually astonished that Sugar hasn't slapped her down for it since he is not known for patience when people step in to his conversations unasked.

She didn't give up her career for a bit part on The Apprentice. None of them did. Margaret. Nick. All those interviewer guys. If you're OK with them doing that, why couldn't you be okay with her doing the same?

If you don't like her, you don't like her. No big deal. You don't have to dissect her background to justify your dislike.

I think the problem here is not really about who is better, Margaret of Karen. It's about being telegenic. Margaret is, Karen isn't.

Errm. she never has been a football team manager. However she has been a director of a couple. She was Managing Director of Birmingham City. She's currently Vice Chairman of West Ham. Lord Sugar himself was once Chairman of Spurs so she's in good company.

She contributes when she's asked too. Margaret was no shrinking violet either. If something comes up in the boardroom that she can throw light on then she should speak up. The idea that she should only speak when spoken to is absurd.

Margaret and Karen were employees of Alan Sugar from the get go, they were never enterprenuers, directors or managers and never claimed to be either. They are 9-5 employees.

Karen repeatedly calls herself a businesswoman and refers to her time managing a football club full of men all the time. Then on the apprentice, she's following around a group of business amatuers with a clipboard. It's not a job suited for a high flying manager. Which is why I question her involvement in actually managing a football club.

You wouldn't expect Bill gates to take a job selling computers at a PC world now would you?

She is a mean-spirited, sour faced b1tch, with no idea what clothes work on a very podgy body.

She had a very privileged upbringing, now sells books on how women can make it through hard work. She complained about being a woman in man's wprld, while that fact made her more famous than her rivals - helped also by her posing for sexy shots in football kits (check out google) - which she has now parlayed into more TV and books, placing herself as a celeb and a fighter for women's equality, etc - while she has not employed many women when given the chance.

I've read her latest book and she is dull and without an original or amusing thought in her head.

I quite like her and don't understand the hero worship of Margaret who was always a bit superior for my liking. She just used to do that raised eyebrow thing.

As for Sugar not wanting to hear her opinion, well he obviously does trust her or she wouldn't still be on the show. I bet Nick and Margaret said a lot more than was shown on camera during the early series. I doubt very much that Karren has more say than Margaret or Nick ever have, its all down to the editing.

A lot of jealousy on here. Absolutely love Karen.

I don't think she's annoying. I don't think she's great. I don't care for Nick much either, and I didn't think Margaret was awesome. Just for the record.

I think it's pretty clear from the amount of vitriol directed against Karren's appearance and the fact that she speaks her opinions (!!) that people resent her for being a successful businesswoman, who Sir Alan has employed on The Apprentice to offer her opinions! I think she does a very good job and offers constructive feedback in the boardroom.

Half the people banging on about her career in this thread seem to actually have no idea about her background in business. As for those 'sexy' shots, is this what you mean?

She calls herself a business woman because she is one. You seem skeptical about her business credentials, why don't you utilize google and discover for yourself that she is a self starter with a very successful career. You also seem to be under some misapprehensions about the nature of her role on the apprentice. Her job on the apprentice is a light, media friendly role which she performs without giving up any of her other jobs, such as being vice chairman of West Ham.

Or do you think the Karren Brady pictured on the cover of her recent 'Strong Woman' book (of nothing) would think book covers like that were the way a strong woman should promote herself?

I have always liked Karren, and I don't really understand what was so special about Margaret. In my mind, Karren is so much better.

Karren is good because she has no fear of piping up in the boardroom to say what she thinks... neither Margaret nor Nick do that very much (though Nick does it a little more than Margaret did.) I also think it's good to have someone a little younger, as LS, Nick and Margaret are all around the same generation. Nick is also a legend because of his awesome facial expressions! That's why I like each of them, but what is so amazing about Margaret? I don't get it.

Sorry, but we're not living in the Victorian ages. I don't really see why posing in football kit (and showing a few inches of thigh ) means you're disqualified from complaining about sexism. Even if she were posing for a more overtly 'sexy' picture (and that picture is not suggestive at all, just light hearted and youthful), that would not detract from her business credentials. Not sure what exactly you take umbrage with - the fact that she is a pretty, leggy lady? Can attractive woman not succeed in business or do they have to go out in burkhas?
