Interesting to see Million Pound Drop on live until midnight tonight.

Good idea to start it at 10pm, given that when the schedules were issued there was a good chance tonight would be an England quarter-final.

However, strange to see it lasting for 2 hours.

So 3 knock out matches down and no extra time/penalties which is where the big ratings peaks tend to come.

Will there be one in the next 3? Of course one in tomorrow's game will be massive for a ratings point of view but probably not a good idea for the nerves of the nation!

As was said earlier in ITV's coverage, it's been a good Euro's we just need a couple of really thrilling matches for it to be remembered by.

Tomorrow night is the first quarter final where the two teams are pretty much evenly matched - so potential there.

The Spain v Germany final will also be pretty exciting - you couldn't call that.

I bet that BBC3 are a bit miffed that tomorrow night they have Rihanna live at the Hackney Weekend, and everyone will be watching England instead! It would surely have been one of their best ratings of the year otherwise.

It says on DigiGuide that Rihanna is at 10pm, so providing that England/Italy is settled within normal time, it should be a non issue.

I'd say the group stages were good, but the Quarters have been very poor so far.

Czech-Portugal was dull, Greece-Germany was the dullest 4-2 game I've ever seen, with Greece just using spoiling tactics to keep the score down, tonight game was better but didn't live up to its billing.

i's sure tomorrow will be the usual controversy filled England knock-out game though, filled with Red cards, debates over goal-line technology, injuries, penalties and the rest of it that makes us viewers on the verge of heart attack!

Sure it said 9pm the other day, so maybe they have moved it back? I could be just imagining that though!

Spain and Germany arent through to the final yet. Portugal play Spain on Wednesday and I dont think that will be as one-sided as you think it will be.

I don't think C4 have a clue what they're doing with Million Pound Drop or whom it is supposed to appeal to, and as is all too often the case now rather than admit viewer fatique when ratings fall they think everything can be fixed by throwing more celebs at it.

I don't think it's rating have fallen much - it's pretty consistent, although it's faced tough competition the last few weeks.

I do think they need to speed the game up though, something I've always thought. The first episode was even slower and after getting slated for it they did speed it up from the next night onwards, but it still drags too much for my liking. Speeding it up would mean giving away more money though, so maybe that's why they drag it out.

If England win tomorrow, their semi final will be on Thursday. This will be the biggest match of the tournament so far, maybe getting over 20million viewers. It could be BBCs biggest rating of the tournament even if England get through to the final because the final is simulcast on Itv who will take a couple million diehard viewers for the final. An England semi final will also mean that Itv's Benidorm repeat on Thursday will rate at or below 1million viewers, cos that only got 2million last week against 6m football, so something else to look forward to.

Lets hope so. Im sure everyone in England wants them to go through apart from Itv, Channel4 and Channel5 due to the low ratings they will be getting!

England getting to the final would be the biggest audience we have seen for 10, even 20 years I am sure. But lets get through tomorrow and the Semi's first before we start that debate!

Well what one wants and what one gets are often two very different things.

But yes, if they did get through to the semi-final naturally the ratings will be huge.

I'm sure all football fans working at those broadcasters will want England to proceed. At the end of the day, the football is one 3 hour show, any low ratings for programmes against it won't make a difference to anything.

England proceeding might actually benefit ITV as the main brands throw more money at advertising to ride the feel good momentum.

if England reach the finales, I may haver to lock myself into a room, with no TV, internet or radio, there may be no other way to avoid it.

Still on the plus side if we win, we will no longer have to point back to 1966 as a time when we won it, I mean lets face it, pointing to a team almost 50 years ago, as evidence England can win, is desperate, and does the exact opposite.

And domestic football viewing figures would no doubt increase for next season. Rugby Union increased both its crowds and its viewing figures on the back of the 2003 world cup win, though I appreciate that is/was a lower profile sport that got thrusted in to the limelight.

I think this is just spin. At the end of the day, I dont think the advertising companies will want to have their products shown during low rated programmes like A Touch of Frost repeat, Midsomer Murders repeat and sub-1.5m Benidorm repeat, which are 3 of the programmes being shown on the next 5 nights.

it would only be 1 night of revenue that is affected.

If England won ITV could potentially win the rights to England games back in the next few years and hype up the games as 'European Champions England' and get bigger audiences on the back of it.

'low rating' is all relative. If advertisers didn't want adverts around 'low rating' programmes, there wouldn't be any adverts on the majority of commercial TV.

BBC, Itv and Channel5 all bid for Premier League live matches - although they were outbid by bSkyb and BT:
BBC were outbid for live Premier League games ... The Telegraph understands that of terrestrial broadcasters, only Channel 4 did not bid as the rights for ... ITV, Channel Five, and the BBC all bid for at least one of the seven packages

New Channel 5 show takes aim at the X Factor:
Chris Evans is making a return to television game shows with a programme he hopes will rival The X Factor.

Following his success as co-host on BBC's The One Show, he has now created Sing For Your Supper where "nobody loses and everybody wins", the first of a string of projects for Channel 5.

Seven members of the audience will be picked to sing for the prize of a restaurant meal for the best performer and a bag of chips for the worst.

Well that sounds classy

I thought Channel5 were trying to shake off their old cheap and trashy image?
