Yes well dont use words like the beginning of time then! ITV must have hired Robbie as their summer work experience bod.

The music was quite relaxing during the strike so maybe people had it on for that like NightScreen

Hmm, it is odd to see this just a few months before they drop CBBC for good, though I assume it might be because they have to start Wimbledon on BBC2 at 5.50 to overlap with BBC1 and they don't have enough half hour shows to put on at 5.15 - and also it's a waste of time going between CBBC and Wimbledon as people wouldn't just switch over for that. Nice to have a break from Pointless too.

Hmm, thought they might have done a bit better opposite football and a load of filler rubbish, shows how much I know.

I thought You Cannot Be Serious was going to get its highest audience this week because it was on before the football, not against it, but seemingly not, This show has just been on at the wrong time, it's all very well saying that TV Burp did well there and this is the same thing but it's always going to be more niche and it's had nothing else in the schedules giving it a leg-up. And they screwed it up from day one by making nothing of that lead-in from the England match. Are they whacking anything from it on YouTube, that might have added a bit of interest?

It's seemed a bit confusing, in that normally ITV shove the soaps all the over the place, whereas suddenly they've decided to ration them and barely show Corrie against football at all. And it just confuses the viewers, surely?

Well, Casualty was a bloody huge hit in the nineties, in about 1996 I think it was even beating 'stEnders most weeks, and coming on after the lottery when they had triple rollovers and beating that as well. One Foot was absolutely massive as well, take The Royle Family and triple it, it was that popular.

Ooh, ooh, I think I know this, it used to be known as Christmas Sunday because this was before the Sunday trading laws came in and it therefore stopped shops opening on the day. When shops were allowed to open on Sundays, from the mid-nineties, it became Boxing Day again.

Roger Lloyd Pack just said on Breakfast that if John Sullivan hadn't died last year they probably would have done one more Only Fools and Horses last Christmas. That's a shame - it would have been huge.

I know people moaned the final 3 episodes weren't up to scratch, and they were paced very slow, but overall they were still good.

I thought it would do 3.7m-4.0m on the RPG, a decent audience with a CS lead-in, I wonder if this is the kind of show they need on a Tuesday night to strengthen it.

I am glad Lifers rated so well (over 2.5m total) a fascinating insight into the mind of somewhat mild-mannered people who snapped - one was a civil servant!

Not good for BB particularly considering lack of competition and the fact it was a BIG episode. Hopefully it will recover a bit tonight...

1.30m incl +1. That +1 figure is the highest so far isn't it? And we didn't really know it was a big episode, no one did because we only found out about the threats around 15 mins before they showed it (as it was leaked by DS). Tonight will go up because of the outrage maybe? Also it was so down against the match, it probably needs a couple of days to recover to the ratings before this week.

I see certain fans of BB are out trying to drum up interest in tonight's BB.

Lifers on C4 about double that of BB and an almost 10% share.

Radio Times has rough timings of when various new US Shows are starting on Various Channel's.
Dallas (C5) September
The Newsroom (Sky Atlantic) Next week
The Finder (Universal) Next Week
Suburgatory (E4) July
Girls (Sky Atlantic) October
Person Of Interest (C5) August
A Gifted Man (Watch) August

In Coming Soon bits of Radio and TV Times (week of 7-13 July)is Wallender, Case Sensitive (no doubt ITV1 and BBC1 will be dumb enough to put them against each other) Superstar starts that week and the BBC has lots about Volcano's and I suspect nothing but Volcano's.

Must be one of the most comprehensive non 25th December trouncings BBC1 has handed out to ITV, and this was when ITV was kicking ass most nights, most of the year.

Yet it was Xmas Night 93 that ITV took the flak for their white flag schedule. That said, BBC1 did get 19m for each of OFAH, Birds... and 18m for the Ghost premiere.”

Casualty was on fire in the 90s. 17.7m - I think its highest audience was 18.05m in 1996. This was a horrific Christmas period for ITV - they seemed to surrender to BBC1.

I read this a couple of years back and I found it really interesting about the disastrous Christmas 1993 for ITV, written by a well-known Ratings Thread regular: http://www.offthetelly.co.uk/?page_id=3866

Casualty was doing very well, achieving 12-13m audiences around 1997, and ratings started tailing off around 1998 with 11-12m, and by 2000, only 9m were watching. People forget that Casualty is very capable of excellent ratings. It got 8.47m four years ago, breached 9 million seven years ago and last hit the 10 million mark in 2004.

A big episode in what way? I didn't see any word of mouth unless your in the 'BB bubble'.

Fact is, all episodes are normal episodes nowadays as there is no word of mouth.

Plus, I suspect Channel 4's Lifers dented it last night, and maybe those that watched Dispatches later, as that is double the usual figure.

Orchestrated by Producers to get ratings up. Why can't folks see that they are being 'played like a fiddle'. When it gets so bad that they have to air stuff like this it really is desperate times. There is no live feed so anything put out on H/L show is 45 mins out of a 24 hour period. Whatever is going on could have been controlled quite easily but the producers have 'chosen' not to & the cynical in me says that they are playing along even feeding it.

Last year they managed to completely edit out a 'foul' incident & any reference to it immediately afterwards. That shows you just how much scope producers have. You also had a h/m threatening to batter another one & saying he would do if he was outside. So producers on C5 have previous on airing this sort of behaviour.

I don't know about you, but the majority of us on the BB forum are grateful that it was shown to show the public how bad Conor has been. Thank goodness they did not brush it under the carpet, however they should have followed up on it and ejected him. They needed to air it really. If they didn't and then it somehow got revealed by an ex HM, they would be in massive trouble. They did the right thing showing it BUT to let him off, that part of it, I agree that is to generate publicity (by keeping him in), but the fact they showed it was more because they HAD to.

I make it c. 54.9% share for the main 5 channels from 9pm-10pm, I believe that is about normal for a regular Monday evening.

I would be curious to know the lowest main 5 channels - primetime percentage share in recent years. Has it ever dropped to 40% or even lower?

Can't you see the issue here is the Producers. This behaviour just doesn't happen instantly or overnight. It has grown out of a dynamic in the house created by the housemates (chosen by BB) & by the atmosphere created by the tasks/prodding (instigated by BB). Producers are watching 24/7 so anything getting out of hand could have been dealt with but they CHOSE not to. They will be rubbing their hands in glee today that folks like you are outraged & telling your friends about it - watch the viewing figures increase.

The person I feel sorry for is the guy involved as BB is not a normal environment. He probably is a nasty individual but that is EXACTLY why he is a h/m. He is being offered up as a hate figure for the moralising masses to feel superior about themselves. What is this guy going to come out to? What support if any is he going to be given? BB have their storyline - job done for them.

It's going to be tight fitting 23 episodes in before the year's end but I guess they could run a double bill for the finale or something.

Good example of why this vile piece of filth which masquerades as a TV show should be pulled from the screens, and why more and more people have such a bad view of it, using instances like this to obtain publicity. Of course, the viewers who go on about the programme should get higher ratings as a result are just as culpable.

I'm not sure whether ratings will increase. There are outraged people on Twitter/Facebook/forums/website, somehow I think ratings will go down. If they wanted a boost for a day or two, they would remove him TODAY. (which will mean higher ratings tonight's and tomorrow and that's it). I'm not sure why they chose him, maybe his looks rather than his attitudes. I really doubt BB chose him because they suspected he would do something like this unless they chose him after he said at auditions "I want to be a bully in the house". He was dull until what was shown, now he's disgusting. There's no way BB producers knew what he's be like when they chose him. Just like Bea in BB10, I think they described her as a likeable girl before she went in.... and she became the villain. I doubt BB knew at the time. But they may be playing on it now for keeping him in. Maybe they want the crowd to do a chant to get him out on Friday.
