Has he ever said a good thing about EastEnders?

Miserable...I'd love that side to come back soon. As of late there's been too much Lightheartedness but tonights worked well with the Humour,Drama and community spirit which i wonder if that's todo with the new EP?

Anyway....

BBC1 seemed to run late again tonight with EastEnders starting at 7:34 and finishing at almost 8:05.

I assume The One Show tonight was live, but the idea of cutting it short by two minutes to accomodate the Queens broadcast is probably a bit too difficult for the BBC schedulers to grasp. Indeed as it created an extra programme junction they probably air an extra couple of minutes of trailers after it, pushing back the schedule even further.

I think by having the auditions highlights show first will build up ratings and lock in a few early viewrs, so the actual launch show ratings should be higher...

7 of the top 10 trends on twitter are Big Brother related. The buzz is there right now. Zeebox buzz is 675% which is very high, similar to The Voice, so its 18 to 34 audience will be fantastic.

The 16-34 audience is normally very good, a fact regularly overlooked in this thread when people rip it apart.

It's amazing tonight the difference in the companies and brands advertising on Channel 5 compared to a typical night for them. Says it all really.

Naughty BBC1, running a minute or two late on a Bank Holiday. But if ITV wants to deploy a tactical sacrificial Corrie on the wrong night simply to dent the final of one of BBC1's flagship shows of the year, then that is obviously ok....

So say BB gets 2million viewers, which is about double the 1million shows normally get on Channel5. Is BB actually more like 4 times better for Channel5 compared to its normal tv shows because of its younger audience than what Channel5 normally get?

100% correct. And that's why it's more valuable than the Total People figures might suggest.

3 points, one being that Corrie was on on Sunday and is on tomorrow because it isn't on on Friday due to the Euros.

Secondly, The Apprentice usually starts at 9pm, the BBC actually moved it earlier than usual and clashed with Corrie themselves

Thirdly, this series of The Apprentice has done well enough denting itself.

Can anyone post a reminder of what the ratings were for the Golden Jubilee and Royal Wedding BBC1/ITV1 and the ratio between them so we have something to compare them with tomorrow.

Based on these MG overnights from the Golden Jubilee in 2002, it looks like the BBC1 to ITV1 ratio for that was probably around 5-6 to 1 when the two channels were head-to-head from 15:30-18:30:

BBC1: 13:45-18:45: 7.8m (53%)
ITV1: 15:30-18:30: 1.5m (9%)

Big Brother has lost me already, every housemate under 30, good looking and knowing it. The line-up would be much better with a diverse group of people, not just the sort that would be on 18-30 holidays to Faliraki.

The just look very predicable and styled to death, by all means have 18-30 year olds, the best BB series have very unique characters. I appreciate at 42 I am outside the BB audience demographic, I will however check it out late at night a few times. I wonder were these rejects from Million Pound Drop

Edit: I just saw the Bouncer guy, he is certainly the comedy character.

Brian Dowling is still however severely woeful as a primetime presenter.

Next week soap fans are reduced to one and a half hours of Corrie, one hour of Eastenders and one hour of Emmerdale.

I'm torn. As a patriotic Scot, I want England to get knocked out in the first round. As a BBC fanboy, I want them to reach the semi-final so that BBC1 gets two more bumper audiences.

Actually, I like Roy Hodgson and I usually find myself feeling sorry for the players when England gets eliminated from a tournament. The reason we Scots (some of us anyway) don't want England to win a tournament is because we know that if they do the Press will go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it. Which is ironic because the newspapers probably want England to fail even more that the Scots do because journalists are evil power-crazy b**tards who like to have someone to pick on and be nasty about. And they seem to get a particular pleasure in picking on England footballers and England managers.

Don't know if this has been mentioned by there were good viewing figures in France for the pageant on Sunday, with 3.6m watching.

The cast is more diverse than last year, for sure.

That's interesting. Can't imagine 3.6m Brits watching the French having a big party to celebrate Bastille Day or something.

I had to laugh when the Daily Express on Saturday said last year's BB had terrific viewing figures. If it was on the Big Four, it would be classed as a flop and wasn't this the same paper a few years ago was classing the show as dated and rubbish.
