And the sheer amount of posts on the Concert thread suggests we're in for a massive massive rating.
Yeah they had to split the thread at 00.45 as it had reached 188 pages and 4,683 posts which had been viewed 289,343 times!

Incredible. Ratings will be huge, it could just about be anything. One thing's for sure - Corrie would have been destroyed frankly and could be in for an all-time low. It could, however, have held up well and have got a mid 5m figure but that looks quite unlikely.

Indicating either a massive average, a massive peak or both. We could so easily be looking at 16-17m average, instead of peak, frankly.
Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised.

Any guesses on shares - could be looking at 55-57%, similar to the Thames Pageant. But thousands were out watching the concert so this could impact a bit on the viewing figures

At the rate these predictions are going Coronation Street will be approaching a French Open rating come 7am.

0.4m for Corrie? Haha...next, we'll be getting articles in The Sun calling for it to be axed. But no, 5m seems the level for Corrie.

The concert deserves a huge rating, it was in short the best Royal Variety Performance ever.....Could it challenge the #1 spot for 2012 (until the Olympics Opening Ceremony?)

I think the opening ceremony will rate less than last night because it doesn't start untill 9pm and wont conclude until close to 1am. It'll get a good share though!

That Jubilee concert was something special. The BBC's pageant coverage was atrocious but last night I couldn't fault them. When it got dark it went up another level and looked absolutely spectacular the staging, the direction, the Buckingham Palace projections the whole lot. Magnificent. I hope it does well in the ratings.

I know it's not always the best indication but the Jubilee Concert Discussion Thread on here has already been locked and moved on to Part 2.
It was a really fast moving thread as well, surprised me. Some huge predictions for last night, but then I'm rubbish at them.

It has just been announced that The Queen will broadcast to the nation at 6pm tonight.

It's been so long since she last did this I can't remember how many channels usually take it?

Last time I remember was the day before Princess Dianas funeral, I was in US working and was flying back that night to be in London for the early morning of the funeral. - I was on the East Coast so 6pm was 1pm there. All the major channels there carried the broadcast live.

Though don't know how many channels here did.

Seems to be only the third time she has ever done this. She did broadcasts for the Gulf War and Diana's death.

It will last two minutes and was recorded yesterday before the Concert.

She made a broadcast when the Queen Mother died back in 2002.

Had it been longer than two minutes, I suspect there would have been a formal alteration to the schedules. Instead ITV will probably broadcast it before the news, and BBC will probably start The One Show a minute or two early. Of course, that's on an hour earlier tonight.

If it is a big rating, then I think we will have a short ratings delay (not that I mean to curse anything...) like we have had in the past.

Was it broadcast in Europe anywhere?

Ah, I had a feeling there was another one.

Didn't Prince Charles do one once too? I can't think why though - unless that was Diana's death too.

The Queen broadcasts to the nation and the Commonwealth every Christmas Day at 3 pm and has been doing so since the 1950s.Her father made radio addresses before her.

The Jubille Concert was not that great for long periods with some really dated acts singing badly. That surely drove many away from watching the whole thing.

So while the later hour might be OK (the peak will be in there), the programme average might be quite low for this kind of thing.

dont think so. it might be hokey, but that will not turn away viewers. i'd say an average somewhere around 12-14m mark

It's a pity ITV didn't move Corrie to tonight and had an hour long special. It's going to be severely dented by the concert, which is a shame as both the concert and Corrie were brilliant to watch.

Disagree - I think it will be huge. The whole thing had a "bringing the nation together" feel. People won't have switched over during the bad acts, as these were 'talk about' moments.

In years to come people will be asking "where were you when Grace Jones was doing the hoola hoop"?
