BB is a bit niche these days, die hard fans will stick with it. It will always bring in the younger demos. I can see peaks up to 2m for the evictions, most viewers won't watch strangers interract night after night. Seeing celebs in that environment is more appealing to a lot more viewers.

BB might well drop under 1m for Saturday shows, though other nights ought hold up throughout the summer.

I agree. It should be put down once and for all. I've not seen any of it but looked on DS at the 'housemates' and it was the same tired old crap: i.e. attention-seekers and 'glamour' models. Utterly dreadful. It's one programme I wish would just disappear.

A decent night for ITV1. Emmerdale did decently for the time of year with a respectable rating; Coronation was out of its regular slot and just about brought in a reasonable rating. Lewis seemed to benefit from the Corrie lead-in but Eastenders will have hampered it from going higher. Next year if Lewis stays on Wednesdays it should get a Corrie lead-in every episode although I'd prefer to see it back on Sunday nights where it belongs IMO.

Over on BBC1, a stronger than usual Wednesday thanks to Eastenders, however for Eastenders itself that seems quite a poor rating. Yes it was out of slot but normally hour long episodes provide a lengthy period of time for the audience to build throughout the episode so I expected much higher for this episode - (closer to 7.5m and certainly at the minimum 7million anyway). Lewis may have taken some audience away but Eastenders is far lower than could be excused by Lewis. DIY SOS did decently at 9pm, bringing in its standard audience level but no boost from the Eastenders lead-in.

Elsewhere The Killing on Channel 4 down to just 377k, is noteworthy. Might even be close to record lows for the timeslot. NCIS on Channel5 +1 at 10pm brought in a very big audience by C5+1 standards, the power of Lewis I presume.

Are you kidding????

Haven't ITV used the Wednesday 8-10pm slot for 2 hour drama's for many years now?

How has this been tactical?

It does if you do not press the number 5 on your remote control for an hour or two each day!

Well, that was the point of the programme initially. I think Five will be happy with a regular audience around 1.4 million because they certainly can't guarantee that with their usual schedules, and neither can C4 for that matter. It does alright for what it is and where it is.

This must be the first time ever the foreign language version of something has done better in the UK than the English language version. It's moved to 10.30 next week, presumably it'll slip still further back as it goes on, like how NYPD Blue and Six Feet Under ended up around 1am.

The US version of The Killing is horrendous, I stuck with the first season, but the second season is unthinkably bad, couldn't even manage a full episode of it. In startk contrast to Danish version which is one of best things I've seen on TV in years.

For Channel 5, BB is doing fine, not amazing, but good enough for the show not to be cancelled.

Big Brother C5 deal was for 2yrs, this is the 2nd year so we'll see if C5 will renew it or not as they couldn't last year

One final mention about the BB rating, last night's show was mostly highlights of the live launch show the night before - no wonder viewers didn't stick around for it. Tonight will be a better gauge, it doesn't have much competition and might get a decent lead-in from the MPW show.

It is just one of those things about some US shows not taking off here, The Good Wife - a real hit network show in the US resigned to More4 here and naturally weak ratings. It is one US show that I record and make sure I watch it.

Danish drama has a decent track record, I lived there between 2006-2008 I must have watched hundreds of hours and much of it was very watchable. I don't really enjoy the Danish language itself - but cannot fault the production quality. I missed the 1st episode of Killing USA and I am now 5 weeks or so in arrears, though I hope to catch up with it.

They moved it from its usual Sunday slot to Wednesday as part of "Operation Finish Off The Apprentice".

Instead it finished off Lewis, probably.

But more successful I suppose than "Operation Stop The Midwives"...

Just over the 1.5 mark then for BB with +1. Poor retention, but not a disaster. I wish they had promoted it a bit last night but every link that I saw was about Kitchen Wars. It wasn't trailed either which doesn't help. The show itself was only okay with a lengthy recap at the start, I am sensing a lot of potential with the cast though.

I think it should improve tonight, particularly if Kitchen Wars is the hit the channel appears to expect.

What ratings would be considered a hit for Kitchen Wars?

They have, but C5 only confirmed that its coming back, that could only be CBB if normal BB's ratings get really bad. But, they're not extremely bad so nothing to worry about.

There is no guarantee of what kind of series they would run, but there must be a commitment on the minimum number of hours of programming.

I think another All Star series, running full length, would be one possible alternative.

Lewis has been recommissioned so it didn't seem to finish it off. They'll repeat it and make up the shortfall in the end. Not possible to do that with The Apprentice though.

On a different note it looks like ITV have commissioned Cowell's new food show for ITV1. It'll be a co-production with Optomen (the indie behind a lot of Gordon Ramsay's shows) and is expected to air 'between Spring 2013 and Summer 2013'. Sounds a bit like a glorified version of Britain's Best Dish but we'll see. More info here.

When does Ramsay's C4 contract end? With it being a co-production with Optomen I wonder if they'll try and get him to judge it?

Good shout, quite a possibility. His Channel 4 contract runs out around now.

Edit: In fact its already been reported Ramsey is a judge http://tv.uk.msn.com/features/simon-...w-cooking-show

But how many zelebrities would commit to a two month show?
Obviously some TOWIE morons would, and has-beens desperate to revive their career...but they might need a bit more than that.

Sorry, I meant 'All Star' as in past Big Brother contestants. A common term in the US where they have 'All Star' seasons on long-running reality shows.

When Channel 4 did it they called it 'Ultimate Big Brother'.

“Morrisons has signed a significant six-figure deal to become the official shopping partner of Channel 5's 'Big Brother', and the housemates will be able to buy Morrisons-branded groceries in their weekly shop.

During the current series of 'Big Brother' and the subsequent 'Celebrity' version, the housemates will choose their grocery, food and household shopping from Morrisons. The items will then be delivered in Morrisons-branded bags.

The products chosen from the Morrisons own range or the M Savers range will be delivered without stickers over the labels.”

http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/news/1135...pping-partner/

Which follows this news from yesterday...

Quote:
“Right Guard deodorant and Theramed toothpaste will be among the first physical branded items to be found in the 'Big Brother' house as part of a product-placement deal.

The product placements, which include got2b styling products and Gliss Shampoo, are part of a wider £2m partnership between the brands' parent group Henkel and Channel 5.

Henkel's Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL hair dye is the headline sponsor of 'Big Brother', 'Celebrity Big Brother' and 'Big Brother's Bit on the Side' and packets of the hair dye will also be available to the housemates.

The branded products will be placed in the bathroom of the 'Big Brother' house for the housemates to use and additional supplies will be available in the larder.”

http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/news/1135...ther-bathroom/

Good to see Channel 5 making full use of product placement in a way ITV hasn't yet worked out how to do. X Factor and BGT are full of similar opportunities and are probably the most lucrative opportunities in TV and ITV have been hopeless at exploiting them.

Amazing after all his Voice rip off claims, this is basically just a rip off of Channel Five's 'Breaking into Tesco' just with M&S. http://www.brandrepublic.com/news/78...reaking-Tesco/

Previously C5's 'Heads or Tails' became 'Red or Black'.

I can't wait for his version of 'Live from Studio 5'.

I was going to ask if that was an original or a repeat of series one. That's a staggeringly bad figure.

The Good Wife isn't a hit anywhere except with Emmy voters.

In fairness to Channel 4 didn't The Killing US debut relatively well and then drop? I vaguely remember there being some decent interest in it but then people saw it and realised it was terrible. Ultimately that's the problem. Its terrible.

*sigh* And to think Channel 4 probably could have gotten the fantastic Breaking Bad for less than they've probably paid for The Killing...
