I imagine Dallas will launch in August after the Olympics, I would think it should replace NCIS on Wednesdays when it finishes its run with 9pm Big Brother episodes bridging the gap for two weeks. Person of Interest I think will launch in July either on Mondays or Thursdays and CSI: Miami will air in late August as there are only 10 episodes left of CSI.

Channel Seven in Australia have just started advertising promos for Mr browns Boys. I think they have the tone just about right, I can't find the promo on youtube but it starts off with serious arty type music and saying something along the lines of 'from the worldwide respected BBC comes the bafta award winning Mrs Browns Boys' (or words to that effect) followed by Mrs Brown screaming 'its a man in a f***ing dress' and a quote from one British newspaper saying 'the BBC shoud hang its head in shame'.

Will be iinteresting to see how this rates, Channel Seven usually sticks clear of comedy unlike NINE, with its only show being HIMYM. Also I'm unsure as to where they will place this, I cn't see it being before 9.30 (but the watershed doesn't exist as such in australia). Sunday after Downton would be a possibility, Mondays after Revenge is taken by Body of Proof, Pictures f You is on Tuesdays at 9.30 (though that might be coming to an end soon), Wednesdays is the Amazing Race, though Thursdays after the American crime dramas finish is also a possibilty (maybe it will be paired up there with HIMYM?). Having seen most of them, I can't wait to watch it again, and the promos taking the p*ss out of the BBC is even more hilarious

While we wait for ratings, here's what the provisionals say for week commencing Saturday 23rd June:

Saturday 23rd June - subject to change
BBC One - football

ITV1
17:45 - Primeval
18:45 - You Cannot be Serious
19:15 - Euro 2012 Live

Sunday 24th June - subject to change
BBC One - football

ITV1
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - You've Been Framed!
20:00 - A Touch of Frost

Wednesday 27th June - will not change
BBC One - football

ITV1
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Midsomer Murders

Thursday 28th June - will not change
BBC One - football

ITV1
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Tonight
20:00 - Emmerdale
20:30 - You've Been Framed!
21:00 - Benidorm

BBC One will screen both semi finals per the agreement between them and ITV1 irrespective of who is in the semi-finals, hence why the Wednesday and Thursday schedules for that week will not change.

Thursday 21st June through to Sunday 24th June is up in the air, if England go through, their game will be on BBC One on either Saturday 23rd June or Sunday 24th June.

If they win their group the game will be on Sunday 24th June, so I assume ITV are banking on that with the provisional schedules above.

Would the length of the show cause problems as I guess each episode is around 28 or so minutes long, so it won't fit into a 30 minute slot (including the standard 8 or 9 minutes of commercials) unless considerably edited.

3) Britain's Lost Routes, on against Emmerdale and Corrie, had more viewers than Countrywise Jubilee had on Tuesday against the less popular soap Holby City.

Good to see BLR on primetime BBC1 but it does have a feel of BBC2 about it. Seems to be cut from the same cloth as Michael Portillo's Great Railway Journeys. I didn't watch Lost Routes because I was watching Springwatch on BBC2. There might have been a bit of audience overlap there. Bad scheduling for BBC1.

The repeats of Death In Paradise and CTM suggest Danny Cohen is becoming as bored of New Tricks repeats as the rest of us. DIP repeats are justifiable to try and attract some new viewers but with 11m peak last winter I'm not sure CTM can get much higher and the repeats were probably too soon.

Good ratings for the William documentary.”

And who are the ITV Fanboys? In my post I actually praised Griff's Lost Routes programme!

Any criticism of the BBC on here is seen automatically as "anti Auntie" and must be 100% pro ITV.

But we'll remember your BBC ratings spin the next time ITV have a flop zone!

Without a late news every evening, the networks in Australia rarely (if ever run to schedule). A programme that is meant to start at 8.30 often starts at 8.40 and sometimes even 8.50, so I doubt that would be a problem. A 45 minute prgramme at 8.30 would probably mean the 9.30 programme started on time for once

Has this been bought from a digital channel?

Good to see the Athletics doing well. Shame the BBC don't air more meetings on BBC3 - such as tonight when they could be showing the New York Diamond League instead of a Pirates of the Careibbean repeat. Instead the Diamond League gets put onto the red button

For all of about 3 months. I think it started with 150k on Monday, less than what it used to get. And to be fair ABC1 and SBS also have late news, but together with Ten they are like the BBC2, Channels 4 and 5 of Australian TV in terms of shares. It is only really Seven and Nine that are major players both of which don't have late news

Euro 2012: Russia v. Czech Republic - 10.78m (36.9%)

Not really surprised that both premiered low. Take Me Out wasn't even advertised as much as The Choice did. I was expecting higher numbers for The Choice, not only for its promotions but for all the hype (even if they were mainly negative) around it. The Choice deserved to do crap and the reception from the viewers are not any better. Mostly emphasis on why Fox would axe So You Think You Can Dance results show for either/both dating shows. Interestingly, people are preferring Take Me Out to The Choice! Duets did much worse with 1.2, even though ABC is spinning that with the total viewers/older audience demo victory.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a u-turn on the SYTYCD results show after Thursdays ratings. Take Me Out though does seem to have been received well amongst US folk who have seen our version.

Quite often on this thread we see C4 ratings lambasted in comparison to C5's....yet last Wednesday.

18:00 1.61m The Simpsons
20:00 1.32m Secret Eaters
21:00 2.35m 24 Hours in A&E

I think people need to keep some perspective on this.

Its summer. Neither Take Me Out nor The Choice did that badly. In fact The Choice did relatively well although the reaction to it suggests we may very well see drops next week. For reference sake last year Buried Treasure debuted in the same slot as Take Me Out and scored a 1.0 so it could be worse.

On the subject of the So You Think You Can Dance results show - its expensive and I don't think Fox have much desire to spend the money to bring it back. Especially not with Take Me Out and The Choice both doing ok.

The big Thursday night disaster is Duets which ABC pushed really hard and is just dying.

Alan Carr’s Summertime Specstacular – Fri 21.00 Channel 4: 1.6m (1.7m)
Euro 2012: Russia v Czech Republic – Fri 19.15 ITV1: 4.1m (4.3m)
Emmerdale – Fri 18.45 ITV1: 5.3m (5.5m)
Big Brother: Live Eviction – Fri 22.00 Channel 5: 1.9m (1.7m)

Sense has prevailed at ITV and they've dropped the seven day old repeat of World's Greatest Footie Ads at 6pm and replaced it with a repeat of The Cube: McFly Special.

Whilst that might not rate too much above 2m, it will probaly rate higher than Footie Ads would have. Footie Ads might have dropped below 1m, seeing as how it would have been on against Football, but we'll never know now.

Meanwhile I notice from Broadcast that last Saturday's Pointless Celebrities at 4.45pm had higher ratings than the film Ratatouiille which followed it at 5,35pm (2.34m 17.7% against 2.22m 12.7%). Further evidence of how stupid BBC scheduling of PC has been these past few weeks. See how it does next Saturday when it's move dto a 6pm slot. I expect it to beat Primeval on ITV1.

Talking of Mcfly specials
is there a rating for Deal or No deal from last Sunday? (c4 and +1)

It does seem people are overly defensive of channels which I'm sure they have links to in real life and in one case we have someone, nice chap otherwise, if even BB featured housemates watching paint dry, would still defend it as great television.
I have no great love for ITV in its modern form, but still support them if they make a decent show that rates well. However, I do laugh when one of their woeful entertainment or reality shows flops. Yet I will criticise the BBC, Channel 4 and others when they get it wrong.
