I guess that's likely to be this year's biggest rating then, unless:

England make the semis or final of Euro 2012
A major, major news event (eg Queen dies, big terrorist attack etc)

Thanks rzt for the ratings, not only for the past few days, but for all the days on here.

Astonishing as well for the Pagent, above 11 million from 15:25 to 17:05.

I think the Olympic opening ceremony should do as well if not better

Terrific figures. I seriously underestimated its popularity. Big benchmark for the Olympics to beat now.

Looks like ITV4 beat Five in all day share yesterday. Suggests the Murray match did reasonably well
...and that 5's repeat lineup in primetime got absolutely hammered by the concert which would be entirely expected. Looks to me as though even with Coronation Street ITV1 was affected the most week-on-week:

ITV1: 11.8% (18.4%) DOWN 38%
Channel 5: 2.8% (4.3%) DOWN 35%
Channel 4: 4.2% (6.3%) DOWN 33%
BBC Two: 4.1% (6.0%) DOWN 32%
channel: TW (LW) change

In terms of BARB ratings, it'll be the highest since The X Factor Final in 2010 (17.7m).

The Royal Wedding ceremony last year averaged 26.0m across all channels which showed it, but BARB took the full-slot average for the BBC's coverage which ended up at 13.6m.

Do people think the Olympics opening ceremony will top that then? I thought that would have been a given but some people not so sure.

It'll be close, depending on what time the ceremony actually airs and what time the programme starts and ends. Even the haters will tune in so they know what to complain about.

One thing to come from all this is that 2013 is going to be really boring ratings wise!

This time last week we didn't think last night would peak with over 17 million.

So who knows. Depends on how much the hype machine goes into overdrive in the days leading up to it.

Yes, the tennis finally paying a decent dividend for ITV4 as we approach the business end of the tournament. Handy that the Murray match finished shortly before the concert started. All-day shares for individuals:

BBC 1: 36.0%
ITV1 inc +1: 11.8%
C4 inc +1: 4.2%
BBC 2: 4.1%
ITV4 inc +1: 3.0%
Five inc +1: 2.8%
ITV2 inc +1: 2.1%
ITV3 inc +1: 2.0%
E4 inc +1: 1.8%
Film4 inc +1: 1.3%
Dave inc +1: 1.2%

Source: Channel 4 Sales

EDIT: When you consider that its post-19.30 schedule must have been annihilated by the concert, that's a very good share for ITV4.

ITV will be happy with that, low but still way ahead of everyone else which is what would be expected both now and during the Olympics.

About time the tennis did well, considering many were saying they should throw in the towel yesterday!

Dunno - someone's said the opening ceremony is running from 9pm-1am in which case if I do tune in I can't see me making it til the end!

Must admit when it comes to Olympics I prefer the closing ceremonies, love seeing the teams all running about enjoying themselves, so unless they've got someone of real interest to me involved I may not bother watching the opening.

The Royal Family are much more popular now than they were in 2002 and the figures show that.

Fantastic average there!
There was quite a bit of publicity around the Royal Family in 2002 what with Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother's deaths.

The Diamond Jubilee Concert averages a whopping 14.7m/57.4%, peaking at 17m #BBC1

Source: Sam Hodges
Bloody hell. Superb ratings and a monumental peak. BBC1 really is in for a huge huge summer of ratings with the Olympics. Turns out my 11.7m was 3 million off the mark. Over these two days, BBC1 has dominated ITV1 in primetime, which looks ominous for the Olympics and the Opening Ceremony. We should be looking at 15-15.5m consolidated figures on BARB when they come out.

To be fair, C5 put out a younigsh male-skewing schedule (police, airports, fishing, The Walking Dead), which is all they could be expected to do really.

True, I stupidly forgot about the Olympics. If anything, last night's figure gives an indication of just how high the opening ceremony figure may reach.

BBC News at 22.45 averaged 10.9m

Source: Kevin Bakhurst
Look at that. The share must been very very high - around 45% I think. 10.9m at 10.45pm is superb, and the News has benefitted superbly from the Thames Pageant lead-in (8.9m) and the Concert lead in last night.

True but then we hadn't been anticipating the Diamond Jubilee concert for 7 years!

I just think with all the hype a lot of people will watch out of curiosity. But if it doesn't finish until 1am that will drag the average down massively - we could still see a massive peak though.

All repeats except TWD. And a bloody Cliff Richard film in daytime to cap off a miserable day.

Not unusual for them to field weak schedules in the run up to a big launch, but yesterday took the biscuit.

It is a 9pm start, to satisfy NBC.

Many of the athletics finals are also after 9pm.

I think the Olympic Ceremony should start at 7.30pm to finish at midnight, instead of 1am, which is far too late.
