Audience looks healthy, but the percentage share looks quite low for the peak I have to say.
Seriously? That's great for a match on a weekday outside primetime. Very impressive.

Solid for the England match but it is down about 1.5m from the 14-14.5m match averages which England 5pm matches have had in recent tournaments. Maybe it's just there's less interest in the team at the moment, we'll see how BBC1 does with its primetime match on Friday and see how it compares to previous tournaments.

Looks like the low expectations of the nation were reflected in the ratings. I assumed a 17m peak was well achievable.

Perhaps the positive-ish start will drum up more interest for the Sweden game, though I think that will peak at no more than 17.5m based on last night, rather than the 19m one might have expected for a primetime fixture. If that game goes well, the crunch match with Ukraine on ITV1 should deliver the first 20m peak audience for some time.

I was too young to remember the likes of Soldier Soldier and London's Burning so it's interesting to read how popular they were! Bad Girls and At Home with the Braithwaites programmes are my early memories of watching ITV1.
So was I!

Anyway, good average for the England game considering many people were at work. Would be good to see a breakdown - presumably an increase in viewers across the hour long build up from 4pm as people returned from work. Good match average though over 12m - build up dragged it down.

Healthy number for BB getting highest rating since launch.
And very nice rating for the match, but over 1m down from last time.

Friday evening should do better, although many people might go to the pub. The prospect of 2 of the most boring teams playing each other in a 90 minute tedium fest followed by Shearer, Hansen & co might tempt even a teetotaller to drink.

The downside of the frequent repeats on ITV2/3/4 seems to be that repeats on ITV1 are now rating very low. We saw this with Poirot on Saturday which rated about 1m lower than it would have 2 years ago and also took about 300-400k off what ITV3 normally get in that slot on a Saturday night.

All of this makes the case for less drama repeats and more factual on ITV1, which I am 100% sure everyone will agree with me about

Monday 11th June - Euro 2012 Overnights
BBC One
19:00- Match of the Day Live: Ukraine v Sweden: 5.27m (22.4%)
* match average: 6.37m (26.1%)
* peak: 7.45m (31.0%) at 21:30

ITV1
16:00- Euro 2012 Live: France v England: 8.90m (47.1%) , +1: 51k (0.2%)
* match average: 12.60m (57.7%)
* peak: 15.26m (60.4%) at 18:45
That's impressive for an England match this early in the tournament. The build up drags the overall average down. The next match is on Friday in primetime and might just top the Jubilee concert.

anything is better than Adrian Chiles...I think ITV1 must have been on the happy pills when they hired him..He just comes across as a miserable toad..Steve Ryder was much better on ITV1's matches.

You have got a point though. Last night's Benidorm episode was aired as recently as 7 or 8 weeks ago on ITV2 to an audience of over a million. It has been aired on ITV2 a few times before too and was its third ITV1 screening so I'm not surprised it didn't rate too well last night.

Soap ratings are out. Neighbours actually did okay opposite England, recording an average over 800k.

Hollyoaks was worst affected, dropping below 600k. +1 showing did well though.

I think the build up was too much. And it clearly showed. Surely they will do fine with a 30 mins before the match and not a whole hour. That way, the entire average would have been around 11m, not 9m. But for a very large slot, 9m+ is very healthy. If England gets to quarters I would predict around a 17m match average and 22m peak.

Also I expected the later match to do better than it did as I would have thought England fans would want to know what they were up against.

I think a peak of 19m is achievable for Friday's match. Yesterday's 15.3m peak was about 7-10% down from the 16.5-17m peaks which previous England 5pm matches have had. In the last tournament, an England Friday group match peaked with 21.3m and the average peak for the last five England primetime tournament group matches dating back to 2004 has been 20.8m - if we assume the figure is about 7-10% down once again, it's capable of peaking around 19m this Friday.

I thought they were awful and need a kick up the arse to get them going they don't seem to play as a team and I feel there are definately some clashes of over paid egos behind the scenes.

Would half an hour of Dickerson rate better than an extra half hour of build up? Aren't they trying to maximise audience across all hours, rather than get a higher average?

If they aired something like Antique Roadshow it may have unfortunately they don't show that on a Monday.

I think it was too much. I know they should be biased as they are in this country, but I don't support England. I support Italy. And when it was Italy VS Spain, the only thing they said was "Italy and the match fizing scandal" (yes, its embarrassing for us Italians about that), but they didn't mention the fact we have won the WC 4 times and Euro once.

And then in an entire hour yesterday they praise England to high heavens, when quite frankly, England have been very poor for years. I just think 1 hr of praising England and how they are the best team in the world was so over the top. Are they going to do this for every England match?

The Walking Dead doubled on last week didn't it? And anyone know what TBBT got at 6.30 without +1? I knew it was inevitable that it would eventually start to outrate Hollyoaks
