McFly struggled in their poor timeslot: the 3 June show consolidated to 1.20m, the 19th best rating for C4 in the week. It didn't make the C4+1 top ten, so less than 279k for that (probably a lot less).

I don't know - the Jubilee (ratings) turned you republican, the England match (10% ratings slump) has turned you Scottish...

Oh, 1993 was a cracker for sure - BBC1 getting back to back near-20m audiences for OFAH and Birds of a Feather on Christmas Night; 20m for One Foot.. on Boxing Night alongside 17m for each of Casualty and Keeping Up Appearances.

Brilliant numbers. That will take some shifting if, as one might suspect, England go out fairly early in Euro 2012 and if the Opening Ceremony drags on for 4 hours.

Brilliant stuff, thanks for dredging these up and posting.

I know Motorway Cops gets some stick on here, but I hadn't realised it had its genesis in 1996 with "X Cars" - pulling an astonishing 12m+ a show!

And this 1996 Christmas Top 10 is a cracker:

Quote:
“1 Only Fools and Horses (BBC1) 24.35m*

2 EastEnders (BBC1) 21.10

3 One Foot In The Grave (BBC1) 17.47

4 Jurassic Park (BBC1) 15.72

5 Coronation Street (ITV) 15.58

6 Vicar Of Dibley (BBC1) 15.15

7 Casualty (BBC1) 14.12

8 Aunties Christmas Bloomers (BBC1) 13.45

9 Cliffhanger (BBC1) 12.68

10 Antiques Roadshow (BBC1) 12.39

(* - I reinstated the 24.35m figure, rather than the "average" of 22.4m for the 3 episodes that aired that week)
”

If only they'd had Downton that year...
RobbieSykes123

And if the X Cars (aka Motorway Cops) rating was astonishing, look at this from July 1997:

Quote:
“July 20:

1 EastEnders BBC1 15.56

2 Coronation Street ITV 14.21

3 Driving School BBC1 12.45”

I know Driving School made a big splash (despite being a naff and cheap docusoap), but I didn't remember it soaring to 12.5m viewers - in high summer!

(We used to have summers back in those days - ah, memories... )

Ten's Being Lara Bingle premiered with 925k last night. Not bad, but not good either since it was promoted on every commercial break, bus stops and even making "headlines" about it. Rafters saw an increase to 1.384m and it's the episode after "the kiss" that Seven have been banging on about for the last month.

Yeah it was a poor slot Thanks mate

Has the soaps next week been confirmed yet?
The BBC are showing Trailers for Next week's episodes (which is a big week Climax to a long running storyline and a wedding/2 Character returns) and they state it's 'All Next week' But DS Have it as

Wednesday 8:00pm-9:00pm
Thursday 7:30pm-8:30pm/Or Friday 7:30pm-8:30Pm

Have explained the reasons behind Eastenders times next week below

TUESDAY:

Eastenders on Tuesday is on at the early time of 7.00-7.30pm so that it has finished in time for ITV1's live coverage of the Ukraine v England EURO 2012 group D decider at 7.45pm.

The crucial EURO 2012 Ukraine v England match on Tuesday on ITV1 at 7.45pm is likely to get one of the highest british television audiences of recent years and the BBC would not dare put Eastenders against it.

WEDNESDAY

Eastenders will be shown for 1 hour from 8:00pm-9:00pm to make up for it not being shown on Monday due to EURO 2012 live coverage.

THURSDAY OR FRIDAY

The BBC have 1st and 4th pick on the EURO 2012 live quarter final matches.

If England qualify the BBC will show the England match exclusively live on either Saturday or Sunday as 1st pick.

The 4th pick is almost certain to be a game on either next Thursday or Friday night but the day cannot be confirmed until the EURO 2012 group matches have finished.

Therefore the BBC do not yet know if Eastenders will air on Thursday or Friday night as this depends on Football matches results still to happen.

Which ever day Thursday or Friday the BBC do not show EURO 2012, Eastenders will air on that day a 1 hour special from 7:30pm-8:30pm.

The Thursday or Friday episode is 1 hour to make up for the fact that the following Thursday 28th June a EURO 2012 semi final match will be screened live on BBC1 and the normal Eastenders episode will not air.

Hope this helps explain the reasons behind the not confirmed days and times.

Thankyou.......Holby City is on at 7:30PM on Tuesday so i guess the BBC felt it would be wise to move EastEnders to 7 (avoid the match) and provide a better lead in to Holby(before the match starts) they done this during the world cup too

I've just found on Radio times

EastEnders is airing 30mins on Tues and then 2 Hour-Hour episodes (Weds 8-9 and Thurs 7:30-8:30)

BBC1 is showing the football Friday with ITV1 having an Hour Emmerdale

Thankyou though

This could change depending on the Quarter Final matches though; the BBC could have the Thursday match which'll presumably result in the two days switching around schedule wise for both channels.

Dallas returns to US television so it'll be interesting how it does, I'm expecting 5-6m at least but it could go higher, it doesn't air on Channel 5 for a while, I think the cast is coming over in August to promote it so I'm guessing either an airdate of late August/early September.

The problem with Channel Ten is they can promote it on all the ad breaks they like, but they have to have decent rating programmes in the first place to attract viewers to new shows, their resullts of late have been below par. And being sandwiched between Masterchef and Bikie Wars doesn't really seem a good fit. Next week will be the big test for it

With regards Rafters I hadn't watched for a couple of weeks and saw the coonstant Seven promos and thought that they had basically spoiled the storyline by announcing that Jules and Adam kissed so watched the concert last week instead. Having realised now that that was a triick I actually watched this week to see the aftermath and was really quality acting and storylining. 22 episodes a year (or series judging by how much they split them) is way too much, and many episodes feel like filler. After 5 years, theey need episodes like last night to raise audience figures.

More interesting to note is the Blocks figures, whiich has got above 1.4m for the last 2 nights so finally seems to be building, as does Masterchef (though it was the Jamie Oliver episode last night)

Driving School trounced The Bill, which sunk to 8m. Some corking ratings though as you say for X Cars. And for the August 97 figures, Wycliffe wasn't too shabby either for summer with 9m.

Hmm, a little lower than I had anticipated for England/France. The peak share is most notable amongst those stats in being lower than previous tournaments. I do think that interest has kicked in a bit more now that England have played their first game and a 1-1 draw does mean ratings should remain strong. Not ruling out a 20m + peak on Friday against Sweden but it does now look as though 18m-19m is a more suitable prediction. All of the England primetime tournament games in the last 8 years have peaked above 20m - (6 matches, 7:30pm or later kick-off).

Also impressed with how well the minor soaps held up against the football. How Neighbours managed to see a rise of 190k on the previous episode I don't know.

It still amazes me that an average of 31m watched the service on the main 2 channels on that Sunday morning. I do wonder what the combined peak was?

Was very odd that the margin was 19.3m to 11.7m - how did ITV manage to close the usual gap? Did they air a Sunday morning Corrie beforehand?
