Excellent for the latter game, highest rating match and peak (bar England) so far. And there is still the cruncher of Holland v Portugal which Holland have to win so it could be an exciting end to the group stages.

The increase to 24 teams really is going to be to the detriment of the competition, at least in the group stages.

Euros ratings doing very well, I think the fact that the build up to the tournament was so lowkey, that the ratings are taking us a bit by surprise.
I'm not a soccer fan at all, but some of the games have been very exciting, the tournament is wide open, and some REALLY tough groups, I think it's going to be a great contest right through.

The match last night was a bit of a let down, especially with the bloody Germans 2-0 up and cruising by half time. So no surprise it didn't quite hit expected heights. Still, 9.8m right at the end as the Dutch pushed for a leveller is pretty impressive.

Big numbers I imagine again tonight for Ireland v Spain, presumably the highest rated non England match so far?

C4 must be extremely pleased with 24Hours in A&E 2.47m with a share of 10.3%

Even Secret Eaters pipped BB with 1.33m add +1 and it comes to 1.55m.

Spain - Ireland in primetime tonight...could be a good one for ratings.

Bedlam seems well well down on last season. It's quite well trailered too

Another set of very good figures for the football. Corrie a bit dented, but 6.9m is still a solid figure during the Euro period. I suspect the soaps will timeshift a bit more as well with people catching up at 'unordinary' times.

24 Hours in A&E did super on Channel 4, with the alternative non-football audience.

Decent enough match average for Ger v Ned, the 45 minutes of pre match waffle must be causing the averages to dip. The half hour analysis is fine from 9:30-10:00pm, as people like to see the goals again.

I would not be surprised if the shortened ITV1 News was ahead from 7:00pm. As a result CS held up well from 7.30pm with a fine rating.

BBC One will screen both semi finals per the agreement between them and ITV1 irrespective of who is in the semi-finals, hence why the Wednesday and Thursday schedules for that week will not change.

Thursday 21st June through to Sunday 24th June is up in the air, if England go through, their game will be on BBC One on either Saturday 23rd June or Sunday 24th June.

If they win their group the game will be on Sunday 24th June, so I assume ITV are banking on that with the provisional schedules above.”

This is now confirmed, except BBC1's alternative football schedule on Saturday 23rd June is:

17:30 - Pointless Celebrities
18:35 - Tonight's The Night
19:40 - Lottery: In it to Win It
20:30 - Inspector George Gently

And for some stupid reason The Million Pound Drop Live is on for two hours until midnight on that Saturday...

Indeed they did, as a Cruise Special in July (45 minutes at 8.15 on a Friday, fact fans, after the first of those mni-'stEnders episodes set in Paris around the World Cup Final). Funnily enough that got on the cover on Radio Times - but only in Scotland, because everyone else got The Hello Girls on the cover, which wasn't on in Scotland that week.

The Cruise was also on twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which was quite a good idea. It felt like a proper BBC documentary, I think it was all on film which made it look quite prestigious. Lakesiders did alright but it seemed a bit contrived, and as even the name suggests they really hyped up the soap bit, with Emma Boundy talking about being jilted at the alter and getting a record deal, which was all a bit tabloid.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that unless England failed to get out of the group completely, the second choice would be the match on Saturday or Sunday involving the other team from Group D, because that would probably be France against Spain or Italy. Then it would be up to ITV to decide what would be the best slot for them, Thursday or Friday, I suspect ITV would hold up better with the hour-long Emmerdale on Friday, such is the older-skewing audience that night, so it may be the case that it works out well for both channels with ITV picking the Thursday game and the Beeb the Friday match.

I'm so thrilled this did badly because it was bloody awful and C4 should stop commissioning contrived and unoriginal panel games. So much for creative renewal. Even Mock The Week was more innovative than that. Isn't this the one that was supposed to be live?

The issue is going to be how much, if any, of the increased cost is Sky going to pass onto subscribers. The current model means that people only need to be subscribed to the sports channels they don't actually need to be watching them. Although given the healthy male audience football is likely to attract Sky Sports potentially has decent enough advertising revenue.

I think you're right that there's a danger that a price increase is going to push a lot of 'passive subscribers' to consider ditching them though. Especially if they'll now have to subscribe to a new BT channel as well. Interesting times ahead.

Yes I remember that being built up as her big secret, which led to a big 'reveal' partway through the series. I think Lakesiders was definitely the point at which the docusoap genre 'Jumped the Shark' and became a bit too pleased with itself.

Makes no sense why This Week isn't down for BBC2 at 11.20pm next week, just like it is tonight. Guarenteed slot for it. The repeat of Hitler's Children planned for the slot can go out another night or be dropped

Tomorrow evening expect the highest rated TV program in the UK this year (so far)

Sweden v England is live and exclusive only on BBC1 and BBC1 HD from 7pm (kick off 7.45pm)

Would expect a peak of around 20 million (1/3 of everyone in Britain watching live) with an average audience of around 16 million.

Yes the England match on Tuesday night against Ukraine is likely to be even higher.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If England qualify for the quarter / semi finals going by the ratings EURO 2012 has been getting so far we could be looking at the biggest uk tv audience in 10 years.

(The highest ranked broadcast in the UK since 2000 was the Euro 2004 match between England and Portugal (BBC1 - 24 June 2004) with an average audience of 20.66 million.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...United_Kingdom

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Were England to shock us and make the final we could be looking at one of the top 5 highest british tv audiences of all time.

(The highest ranked broadcast in the UK ever was the World Cup 1966 match between England and Germany (BBC1/BBC2/ITV - 30 July 1966) with an average audience of 32.30 million. - note match was shown live on all 3 tv channels of the time)
