If massive shows like Once Upon a Time can only get 2 million (which is very good for 5) there's no was Dallas is going to break records for 5.

I agree actually, Dallas has potential to hit 3m at least for first episode. Depends how well Channel 5 can communicate it is a continuation of the original hit series.

Just a bit confused how anyone thinks nuclear war might create ballistic ratings.
Would anyone stay in to watch on TV as opposed to heading for the hills ASAP?
I was very young when the Cuban Missile Crisis was at its height and did not really understand at the time why my family took us off miles from Manchester for a few days. Though I appreciated that something really terrifying was going on.
We certainly did not stay at home watching the news.
I guess ratings for those few days might be a clue to nuclear war ratings.

Ok ratings for the 2 main soaps last night. I wonder how Emmerdale will fare going head-to-head with the England match tonight. Could well see a record low, at least it starts 15mins before kick-off time.

I can't believe I'm engaging in a discussion about this!
But the official advice has always been to stay indoors, close all your windows and watch TV/listen to radio. We were shown all the public service videos about it back in school to teach us about the Cold War.

I expect Emmerdale will get one of the lowest ratings in its history.
Silly decision by ITV to try and put it against the England match.
BBC have moved Eastenders to an earlier time next Tuesday to avoid a clash.

Dallas has far more recognition in this country than OUAT. I think a lot of people will tune in out of interest for the first episode at least. The story about it being a hit in the US is one of the top 10 most read stories on BBC News today so there is a lot of interest.

Yes, 3m is definitely possible for Dallas. Getting young viewers on board might be a harder task but I'm sure many fans of the original will return.
There was a fair amount of coverage in the newspapers today about the US launch. And apparently the cast are coming over to the UK to promote it which will definitely help matters.
Euro 2012: Ukraine v France has been suspended due to a thunderstorm. The match could overlap with the England build up on BBC One if the delay is too long.

It's not unusual for imports on C5 to start very well, occasionally they start extremely well. The Mentalist and FlashForward both premiered with over 4 million viewers back in 2009.
A lot has changed in those three years and 4m is a bigger ask for the channel now with the growth of multichannel, but I can see no reason why Dallas couldn't top 3m.

Not that it matters, but ITV's schedule will be pushed back somewhat or a different filler in place of Lewis.
ITV now repeating England v France during the rain break. I wonder what this will do for the ratings.
If the match cannot be restarted before 5.50pm, they will have to push the England game back too. A lot of broadcasters will be screening both matches on one channel.
I'm surprised ITV hasn't pushed the ads from the end of the broadcast to fill this gap, especially as they won't get many viewers after the final whistle as they will stream over to BBC1 even quicker tonight.
EDIT: Kick-off will not be before 6pm. That will surely mean the England game will get put back - assuming they can get this match played.
For the record - in the event they cannot play the contingency plan is to play the game tomorrow instead.

I grew up in the early eighties when it was tense at times and nuclear war programmes were popular on the television. The American TV movie, The Day After, attracted 17 million viewers on ITV in 1983 and I believe Threads pulled in 8 million on BBC Two the following year.

They're not going to make a decision until 6pm, so England v Sweden will have to be pushed back if the game restarts.
I suppose ITV have been paid very little for the post match adverts so they don't want tor reward the advertisers with a better slot.
