The way the BBC did cricket was very "English". It felt cosy and warm ,I loved watching it as a kid. Nowadays it has a much more commercial international feel to it. Which is entirely understandable to avoid sounding like a racist. Which I am not!
1998 was the BBC's last Test Mach Cricket year and they ended live cricket in 1999 with the world cup which they shared with sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANeD1fw00jw That was them saying pretty much Good buy. Ken BTW when was the last Ashes shown on the BBC? 1997, I'll assume... |

Ken It's the same with the Sunday afternoon football. Apart from the FA Cup, the terrestrials have totally lost the knack now and accept it's a Sky thing. |

It is fair to say however, that Channel 4 really did improve coverage of cricket. The 2005 Ashes was an excellent way for Channel 4 to bow out.

AU: The Block tops; AGT, The Amazing Race Australia flops
Link: http://twitter.com/mediaweekAUS Quote:
Wed TV: Nine #1 23.2% #TheBlock 1.51m 7News 1.3m 9News 1.29m ACA 1.22m #MasterChefAU 1.12m TT 1.07m BBT 1.06m/885k #Offspring 906k #AGT 881k
Offspring continues to deliver for Ten with 906k, as they are reaching their season finale in a few weeks. They also have really good retention from Masterchef Australia, mostly due to Masterchef having a significant decline this season. House also aired new episodes last night, but I suppose that didn't do so well. Same goes with The Amazing Race Australia on Seven, as that show is not listed on Mediaweek's tweet yet.

Channel 4 did a wonderful job. I thought 1998 was BBC's last Ashes. I am probably wrong.

To whoever was aking about EastEnders on BBC Three on Friday, the non-football schedule has it down for 10.30-11.30pm. ![]() Quote:
Brilliant result for England, anyway. Celebrated the nation over - except at Chez George and ITV Network Centre. Sure, ITV will bask in the superb year-high ratings that will be delivered tomorrow morning. But for them, "whether England play 1, 2 or 3, all games are now on the BBC". Oh, and both Semi Finals too. Their tournament ends on Saturday, around 10pm. Early bath for Chiles and Co - that they are covering the Final in simulcast with the Beeb for 2.5-3m diehard lovers of commercial TV and ad break-interrupted coverage is a bit of an irrelevance really. A bit like having Chris Moyles doing a red button commentary option - it's there, we all know it's there, but nobody really cares. ![]()

I don't think the BBC showed the 1998 Ashes as it was in Australia. I think they only showed the home Ashes series live, in which case, it would be summer 1997.

Good rating for EastEnders. Held up well against the England Match build up and Won it's slot at the slightly earlier time. Good BBC3 repeat rating too.
I hope tonights EastEnders performed well because it was a cracker and im glad these 2 hour eps are written as Hours and not two put together. I don't think tonights ep will rate that well though. The BEEB didn't seem to mention tonights ep (even after last nights) and for some silly reason the trailers have stopped |

An official CBS press release... ![]() Quote:
Subsequent to recent developments in the creative and legal community, CBS Television today felt it was appropriate to reveal the upcoming launch of an exciting, ground-breaking and completely original new reality program for the CBS Television Network. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...?utm_hp_ref=tv
The dazzling new show, DANCING ON THE STARS, will be broadcast live from the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and will feature moderately famous and sort of well-known people you almost recognize competing for big prizes by dancing on the graves of some of Hollywood’s most iconic and well-beloved stars of stage and screen. The cemetery, the first in Hollywood, was founded in 1899 and now houses the remains of Andrew “Fatty” Arbuckle, producer Cecil B. DeMille, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Paul Muni, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, George Harrison of the Beatles and Dee Dee Ramone of the Ramones, among many other great stars of stage, screen and the music business. The company noted that permission to broadcast from the location is pending, and that if efforts in that regard are unsuccessful, approaches will be made to Westwood Village Memorial Park, where equally scintillating luminaries are interred. “This very creative enterprise will bring a new sense of energy and fun that’s totally unlike anything anywhere else, honest,” said a CBS spokesperson, who also revealed that the Company has been working with a secret team for several months on the creation of the series, which was completely developed by the people at CBS independent of any other programming on the air. “Given the current creative and legal environment in the reality programming business, we’re sure nobody will have any problem with this title or our upcoming half-hour comedy for primetime, POSTMODERN FAMILY.” “After all,” the spokesperson added, “people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” |

Let's hope it's good enough to retain most of the viewers who watched the first episodes for nostalgia or curiosity value. |

Later today probably, it was shown last night.

I read it had 7 million for the launch is that regarded as good in the US where the population is 313,544,041? Scaled down to the size of the UK population that's roughly 1.3m. |
