It will be interesting to see how this works out for Channel 4 in the long term and whether he manages to overcome it or not. But I do think it will become a bit of a hot potato for Channel 4 and the ratings will sink quite badly (see Celebrity Big Brother in the aftermath of the race row- initial spike then plummet). Due the nature of the format, if it came to it they could just replace him.because unlike BB, the problem isn't with the format itself.

I think it will all blow over now. The series is finished and it will probably return as per usual. Although, I don't know why because I think the show is well past its best.

It can blow over and I think it will (and feel it already has!), but he's going to be quite limited for the jokes he can do without getting some backlash for them.

If I remember rightly season 1 didn't do all that well on showtime anyway so I doubt season 2 will do any better

It's little more than a tiny storm in a very big tea cup and certainly won't affect 8 out of 10 Cats long term - but may impact on 10 o'clock Live, which has unbelieveably been recommissioned.

Frankly though along with 10 o'clock Live it's probably about time 8 out of 10 Cats got the chop too - I think the fact 2.18m is it's best figure in over two years backs that up. C4 comedy (and drama, and factual, and lifestyle) is unbelieveably stale at the moment.

Well BB failed.

It was up against the football. The fact that its steady is good enough for Channel 5.

Did it? No it didn't. It's the same rating as it has gotten normally. The average over nights are 1.4-1.5m for BB13, slightly up on last year. To get 1.41m against the match is impressive. When Euro 2012 is over, it should increase just like BB3, BB5, BB7 etc... did when they faced matches.

I think EastEnders would have had around 7million for last night. I think it will be a lot higher in the officials.

The evictions used to be the highlight of the week for BB, not any longer.

Same ratings as the previous night's also this week's eviction has dropped to 1.41m from 1.51m.

Million Pound Dropon C4 beat a BB eviction and had a higher share.

I won't say much on the Jimmy Carr thing. I don't have strong feelings on it one way or the other, to be honest. However, I think the whole fuss is a distraction designed to take the public's minds off other things.
I don't recall Clive Anderson falling from grace. The Bee Gees thing wasn't even a storm in a teacup. One of the brothers (the surviving one a.k.a. Smiler) took offence at a joke, and his brothers walked out with him out of loyalty. His brothers were two very nice men capable of taking a joke.

I loved the eviction last night. I think its foolish for anyone to think that BB can do better. BB is at a 1.4-1.6 overnight average and CBB at around a 2.4-2.6m overnight average. That's it. Its been on for 12 years, what do you expect? Also it's on the smallest main channel!

Sometimes I feel people say they don't like evictions any more, only because of the ratings. I bet you don't even watch BB. It's a brilliant series (besides lack of LF) and I think it's funny how many people are missing such a good series.

Well they lose the rights shortly to Sky - and wouldn't be surprised that even for the films from the 60's if the rights to rerun them probably costs more than the cheap documentaries in the flop zone.

Damn, I love my Bond fix when it's raining. However, over the last 37 years, the Bond franchise has been very lucrative for ITV and the premieres of the first four films pulled in 23 million viewers and have proven their worth as schedule fillers.

What matters when it comes to these ratings, the amount of viewers or audience share and why? That question has been on my mind for ages.

And does anyone have all the ratings for Sadie J on CBBC, I could get them from overnights.tv but as a 14 year old kid, it'll be pointless for me to pay to get those ratings, so in which case could someone happen to insert the ratings where they are 'under' the lowest of that top 10: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadie_J

I think now the television companies know the era of really massive ratings is long gone and they seem more interested in audience share and demos. Your show pulls in 2 million on Channel 4, let's say, not a marvellous rating, but if it skews massively to ABC1s and/or under 35s, you're quids in as the advertisers love this group the most. While the big two soaps days of pulling in 17 million might be over, the fact is they get a share of 35-40 pc is still very attractive to the broadcasters. EE in particular presses all the right buttons: popular with under 35s, bigger in the more prosperous South and ITV would kill for it.

I think Sky only have the rights for one year, don't know what will happen after that. The films are all out in a Blu-Ray boxset in the autumn; I have my order in already.
